No. Same reasons as not being able to record - not a problem for us, though, as most of our viewing is BBC anyway (though they do tend to engage in self-promotion and lots of trailers).
 
I've tried the Aero box in Finland over a VPN back to my UK address. After a 20 min initial test of watching BBC 1 HD and bit of channel surfing, it seems to work well. No breakups or freezes, even while downloading stuff on the laptop over the same VPN. Haven't tried any of the catch-up apps yet but I suspect they'll be fine.

does the catchup use the seperate iplayer, ITVx etc servers? i.e. one could be blocked and another ok?

Yes, they are all the broadcaster's own apps with their own logins. I can't see why they would be blocked, as they work fine over my VPN on my Fire TV stick and iPad. I'll post back here if I find anything that doesn't work.
 
interesting read i have the 4k freesat 2tb recorder use it daily rec and skip adverts IPTV probably the way to go i have a freely tv in bedroom manhattan sxbox on tv in kitchen, its which will be best option for FREELY pleio no connections for hd rec, manhattan, and Humax, will any record and then what can you do with a iptv box off amazon etc thats something i know nothing about at minute. i still use 19.2e mainly for sport. Chris
 
I've been using the Manhattan Aero for a month now and it's overtaken the Vu+ Duo 4K SE to become my default box for streaming UK TV. I've mainly been using it to watch BBC iPlayer programmes and the snooker live on 5.

It seems to run smoothly with no crashes, lockups or freezing. Looking at the data usage through the UK router it seems the HD streams are running at about 7 to 8 Mbps.
 
Yep. It really is a revelation.

And SWMBO finds it easy to use, so it truly is User Friendly.

Am waiting patiently for the S4-R which should see us through to the end of the Freesat era.

BTW, Currys have the Aero in stock again and Amazon have received supplies but enough only to fulfil existing pre-orders.

Good to know. If I hadn't created such a stupidly long wifi password (64 characters!!) I might have given it a try, but I have ethernet by my TV anyway so it was just a case of plugging it in.

My question was more to do with the protocol

What prevents streaming outside the household, is a set password manatory ?

Mine is pretty convoluted, too - probably took me longer to enter the WiFi password than it did to do everything else to integrate the Aero with my AV system!
 
Over a month in use now, and I cannot really find fault with the Aero.

However, demand is clearly very high as, not only does it keep going out of stock, but the price has gone up to £89.99.

Not sure that's good value, given that there are now a great many Freely-enabled TVs on the market from £100 (Argos offers) up through a mainstream £150-200 price range ......


..... Mind you, Roku streamers still seem popular, too, despite many modern TVs having Roku integrated.

All a balance, I suppose, between keeping older kit going reasonably cheaply or succumbing to a new TV at greater expense.
 
I noticed the price has gone up too, they say it's down to the cost of memory at the moment.

I really would like to get hold of a second one (sadly, I'll have to put up with the higher price) as I want one for my parents but I'm still waiting for some new stock.
 
Thanks - have just read Manhattan's remarks about supply issues and pricing.

Fortunately my S4-R order is already in at £219.99 as it wouldn't be a surprise if that goes up too, once initial supplies are shipped to customers.
