freesat/free to air confusion

Again, as stated in previous Posts:

Try Skewing the LNB

Turn off any potential interference sources like DECT Phones, BT Home Hub or similar.

12560 is one of the slightly weaker transponders. You may need to tweak the dish alignment slightly.

On the size dish you are using 28.2E / 28.5E are effectively colocated - the acceptance angle of the dish is far greater than the 0.3 degree difference between them. However if the dish is marginally misaligned then you could find its enough to kill the reception of a few Eurobird frequencies.

Thanks all, finally got Euronews last night.

Although........................

When I was up the ladder I aligned the dish to the strongest reading I could get on the LED sat meter that I got with the dish. My wife was indoors with the receiver tuned to the correct transponder, and told me the TV was showing the "No signal" screen. As it had got dark I re-connected the co-ax to the LNB and she said "The picture is on now" with 36% signal quality. Does the sat finder really degrade the quality that much? Also. should I realistically expect better signal quality than 36%? (on Euronews, I get higher readings on other transponders) I am now using a 65cm dish that I bought from Maplins

Thanks again

Tony
