Hi Guys

I know some of you have properties abroad and may have been experimenting with Freesat reception in the Canaries.

Can you tell what the situation is for Lanzarote please.

Cheers:)

Freesat is receivable as long as you can see the uk beam which requires a 3.1M dish. The EPG is transmitted on EuroBird and can be caught with the same size dish although I believe critical alignment between the two may be an issue - not applicable with the EPG on a Sly receiver.

I see what you mean - must be my logic thats reversed by asking for freesat rather than Lanzarote.

My question however is specific to use of freesat receivers rather than others.

Some searches don't always answer the direct question and given that receivers have been circulating for a while the post was specific.

Thanks for your comment

Thanks for your help.

1. Do you know from your own location in Lanzarote whether this is the case allover the island, we are looking at Costa Teguise ?

2. Would the signal for HD work effectively on the Humax do you think?

3. Which brand of dish do you consider would suit the circumstances best?

Thanks once again:)

They use 2.4M & 3.1M dishes made by Famaval and are used in Lanzarote.

This size dish has to be set up on either 2d OR E/bird. Some loss of channels will occur different times of the day. No vertical transponders from 2d spot beam.

I am not at permanent residence in Lanzarote but member 'Trigger' is. I have brought this thread to his attention.

Hello
As Satelliteman has said Astra 2D Horizontal transponders are available with a 3M dish in Lanzarote. Unfortunately this will not pick up Eurobird S1Beam without moving the dish. Check out Lyngsat.com for full details but missing channels include True movies, Tiny Pop and Sci-Fi.

Let me know if you want further info

Cheers

Thanks for your past advice Triggs

We moved to Lanz near Playa Blanca on October 1st and I wondered if you can bring me up to date on the latest situation for receiving the main UK channels in Lanzarote.

The Villa has a 1.2 or 1.3 dish at present receiving some Sky programmes with the Standard Skybox and free card, but little choice.

Look forward to hearing from you.
