Freesat in Northern Germany?

this is my first time on the forum and my knowledge of satellite TV is very limited.
We are living in Northern Germany very close to the Danish border. We are currently using a Dutch receiver for Cannal Digital (my wife is Dutch). I think the satellite we use is Astra 1.
I would like to watch F1 on UK channels.
I beleive Freesat is the best way to go. Questions................................

1/ Can I receive Freesat in N. Germany?
2/ Do I need a UK postcode?
3/ What dish size do I need?
4/ What sort of LNB is best.
5/ Could I install myself or get a proffesional?

I have seen complete setups on sale on ebay. But if I only need the receiver box I might be able to buy the rest here.

I hope I have covered all the bases if not dont hesitate to get back to me.

1) yes with a big enough dish

2) You only need a uk postcode to regionalise a FreeSat box.

3) At least 80 cm according to this site:

4) Any modern lnb should work well. The Inverto Blacks are well regarded

5) If you are reasonable at diy then yes you can install yourself. We will provide help & encouragement.

HOWEVER, if the dish has to go anywhere where the access is at all dicey then get a pro to do it.

thanks for the reply. Ihave a question!!
as I mentioned we have a Dutch receiver which we want to keep alongside the Freesat.
As I understand it we need a second dish with the cable running from the LNB to the TV. Is there a way of connecting both receivers to the TV so that we do not have to keep swaping the cables from one receiver to rhe other.

You would have separate, different cables for the satellite dishes as they are pointing at different positions.

If you mean the connection to the TV it depends on how many connections for external devices the TV has. Ideally there would be ennough for two scart leads (or HDMI leads if the TV is modern enough).
