Freesat on Costa Blanca

My original reply sent about an hour ago has not been posted which makes my last offering look rather silly! I have sent it again. perhaps it is being censored!

Freesat Advantages-
1. No need to buy free to air card
2. ITV HD only available on Freesat. ITV HD goes 24/7 next year.

Just a couple of points for clarification:

1. No such thing as a Free To Air Card. The non-subscription Encrypted Channels on Sky are "Free To View". Pedantic, I know - but important!

2. Do you have a source for the point about ITV HD increasing output?

here to add reception reports in costa blanca area---> http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/775393-post9.html

OK I got my terminology wrong!
Local Freesat dealer told me about ITV HD. Therefore it is hearsay.

Ah, thanks Nick.

I asked because their are many grumbles about the limited service to date - although the earlier technical hitches seem to have been ironed out.

As it is not a true Channel at present, but a Red Button service, one wonders how much they can get away with in terms of air-time in the short term.

Obviously it would be nice if they could find a way to go full-time and to mirror the ITV1 schedule throughout.

But Auntie aren't permitted to do that, so there are clearly lots of Regulatory hoops to jump through yet.

............. not to mention the need for upgrading and/or replacing all sorts of production equipment and buying in sufficient HD content from elsewhere to actually fill the schedule!

(Sorry about the second Post, but I tried to Edit/Add to the preceding one and my connection to the Forum decided to go somewhat treacle like. Been devilishly slow most of the afternoon.)

Edit: Now I've somehow generated a Duplicate!

Can some kind Mod please bin it for me? :-worship

Further Edit: Thankyou! That looks better - I'm not that desperate to increase my Post count ^-J

Santa delivered a Humax satbox 'thing' so a start is made!

Just the other 15 components to gather!!

Not many Spanish dish distributors on Google though.....

OH well - it's to the pub for the footie next week while in Spain.

Best Wishes for Xmas

Yes I have serious doubts about their ability to go full time HD in 2009.
Before they they try it would be a good idea if the quantity and quality of their Red Button HD service such as it is, was improved. The definition of BBC's HD output is vastly superior. When I have watched some of ITV's HD output I have really battled to see much improvement over the SD picture.
