FREESAT OUTSIDE UK..need help

My Satellite Setup
I use a DSTV in Nigeria( small dish).
My Location
Lagos, Nigeria
Hey Yuall,
Please am lookin for help on receiving freesat.
I plan to setup a satellite television service here in Nigeria and want to use only freesat (cuz its free). I called their customer care and they told me that it is possible to get freesat with a BIG satellite that can get astra 2d. I am a novice in satellite work but am still doin research. I also know that UK and Nigeria are very close in terms of latitude.
I just need details as to what kind of satellite i should buy that would be able to get freesat from here and pls be as mild as possible. If u can't, please still reply. I would look up d big words...lol:D.
Any help is much appreciated.
P.S: - Pls also post links refering to the products you think i would need.

Forget it - you have no chance whatsoever of getting Freesat in Nigeria!

The UK satellites are firing into north western Europe, nowhere near Nigeria.
 
Close in Latitude with regard to distance from the Equator, but sadly in different Hemispheres.

Edit: Perhaps OP meant Longitude, not Latitude? No matter - still won't get him any joy!

Umm, no. Nigeria is in the northern hemisphere.

But it's still too far away for reception.

I dont really need a reply on this but...cant i meet the freesat company and ask them to transmit to my country satellite so i can receive..
Hope am not sounding dumb:D
 
That, Sir, is the funniest yet most brilliant idea I've ever seen on this Forum! :-rofl2

Regrettably, the issue is not a technical one, but one of target audience and Broadcasting Rights/Copyright.

Even within the European Onion we don't have truly "open skies" with regard to TV.

Geographical coverage is limited (in theory ............... ;)) by the use of narrow Satellite beams for Free To Air transmissions or by the use of Encryption whereby the unlocking process is intended to be restricted to those with Subscriptions.

(And yes, all you eagle-eyed readers, I spotted my typo but decide to leave it .....)

Lovely idea - can we have a reciprocal arrangement so we can watch West African TV?? :D

Not going to happen - the UK channels are only licenced to transmit into Europe - Im afraid you are stuck with your channels.
