Dish: ASC Signal "Channel Master" 120 cm.
LNB: Invacom QDF-031 with Channel Master feed horn.
Box: Humax Foxsat-HD

Hi

I am based in Stockholm, Sweden and I'm having a slight problem receiving BBC1 NI, BBC 2 NI, UTV and CBBC.

Sometimes reception is fine and other times I can't get a signal at all.

Is it just that I need to realign my dish?

It could be you need a bigger one.

Can you give some details, please?

If it is just on the cusp, as it were, upgrding to a Black Ultra LNB might be a good solution.

I have a feeling that I start to loose the signal after around 18:00 CET. Although on other nights it is fine. Actually, come to think of it, it may be when it is rainy outside and we have a lot of cloud cover...or maybe a combination of both, ie. time and cloud cover?

Looks like you have a solid dish and feed from the details in your profile. Has this just started or been an ongoing problem?

Either way, checking the dish alignment maybe the cheapest and easiest thing to start with.

The install is only about 3 weeks old so it may just be that I need to tweak the dish a little. My knowledge is pretty limited in these matters but I've heard talk of Vertical & Horizontal transponders ; is there a site which lists which transponders BBC NI is on?

thx

Check out flysat, lyngsat or kingofsat.

BBC 1 and 2 NI and UTV are on Vertical transponders, which favour us here down south, whereas the horizontal ones, carrying for example BBC 2 England are weak. In Scandinavia I believe it's the other way round, so assuming your installation is spot-on ( which it may not be! ) I too would look into substituting the LNB for the Inverto Black Ultra. On my 120cm Televés dish, which I normally use for Badr 26ºE, the Black Ultra brings in some BBC/ITV channels when I focus it on Astra 2. This has never been possible before with various other LNBs

BBC1-4(horizontal), ITV1-4(vertical) works fine in Stockholm 24/7 when it's not raining of course on a CM 1.2m dish.

You need to do better alignment, i am also using a Vu+ Duo which is the best tuner on the market, with my old Thomson DSI8215 i could get break ups on ITV2-4 during a few hours each day.
