hi can someone pls help me just got a foxsat-hdr box used to have sky+ and used a magic eye to watch a tv upstairs in the bedroom. Bought a RF-modulator but how do i set it up?

Which modulator have you bought? If it's the Trilink kit, then you simply take a scart feed from the Humax, put the aerial feed into the Trilink, connect RF1 to the TV and RF2 to your cable leading to the bedroom. Magic Eye goes in the bedroom.

The only other thing you need to do is adjust the output frequency of the modulator to a clear channel, if you can check on your TV upstairs, it should tell you the frequency to set the modulator to.

The RF modulator will probably only allow you to view what is on the HDR around the house - it won't help transmitting the remote control commands back to the HDR from another room.

You will something like a Powermid for this. I think that this will also send the signal from the HDR to the other room as well.

This is what I bought. Seemed like it was the right thing, please don't tell me I have to spend more money. Surely I can use the sky magic eye to control the remote if it's plugged into the link plus thing like when it was set up for sky+? I don't have an outside aerial which is why i went for the freesat box so that it can be used off the skydish, thought it would be case of replacing cables like for like and bingo? How does the tv upstairs know what channel should be putting the modulator on?

If you already have a TVLink plus, then it should work, just put the output from the modulator into the TVLink plus and use as before.

If you go into manual tuning on the TV when it's set to your Sky channel, then it will, probably say what the channel number is. If not, then you can move the channel number on the modulator until the programme comes up on the screen upstairs, easy if there are two of you, or plug the old Sky digibox back in and go into Services, system setup, press 0,1,Select and go to RF outputs, the channel number will be listed there, default is channel 68 if it was used straight from the box.

Got it working thanks
