I am new to Dreambox and use it in Middle East. I bought a new Dreambox with Cccam 2.0.4. Somebody set it up for me and I can see lots of satellites Hotbord, Eurosat and ArabSat. I would like to know if I can install and configure it myself. Do I need subscription cards or configure it to decrypt paid channels e.g. Showtime, Orbits, Zee Network on my own. It is connected to internet via ethernet.

By "see" do you mean that you can watch pay (scrambled) channels for free?

If not you'll need to buy a subscription card for the channels you want to watch and CCcam will use the card to allow you to watch the channels.

Is that what you meant?
 
Well yes I can see the channels. The satellite guys came and configured it later today. I can see all these channels but I have no card installed. They told me I see all these pay channels via their server. I have no idea how that works, but is there any way I can manage it. They say the subscription is for one year.
 
You can't do anything, it is all in their hands, the server may or may not stay up for 12 months, as the providers are quite active in trying to close them down.
 
You are using what is known as a card share system. Its quite common for the companies running these to be closed down by the pay tv operators, leaving all the viewers with only the free channels and having lost their money.
