Warning - rant alert!!!!!
For Xmas, my stepdaughter partly funded the purchase of a practice amplifier for my new guitar. It's a Fender Mustang I, so a reputable make. It features COSM modelling, so it reproduces various classic amps plus effects pedals and rack effects. The amp works brilliantly and connects to the laptop via a USB lead.
It comes with three pieces of bundled software: Fender Fuse, which lets you fiddle about with amp and effect settings, Ableton Live 8 Lite (Fender Edition) which is multi track recording software through which you can record your blistering guitar solo on top of a backing track and Fender Amplitube, which seems to be very similar to the Fuse software. You also have to register all of these third party programs, which seems to involve more number crunching than getting a Windows OS to work!! You have to download a specific Fender sound driver to recognize the amp as an input device, which after many attempts I did. However in the driver set up screen it refuses to recognize the amp and just keeps going round in circles trying to find the hardware. I'm not easily defeated so will post on the Fender forum but I can't understand why these high end manufacturers seem to do very little research into how user friendly their software is!!!
