Well, I normally stick to Astra1, from which it is very easy to get all transponders, even on a 40cm minidish! MTV Main has a fair bit of English programmes (German subtitled). Travel Channel very good (also on Astra2, of course). Liberty TV and Terra Nova also do good (non English) travel stuff. Obviously, anything "visual" is fine, language then being no barrier. So Just For Laughs (is that Super RTL, or RTL2?), being visual tricks played on unsuspecting public. Same channel also shows Dom Jolly, dubbed into German. Any film that's mainly special effects is ok, I saw Matrix Reloaded in German, which didn't matter a bit .... The Astra1 free German channels between them have lots of sports, all types of music, dance, films etc, much more than anyone can possibly watch ..... There's occasionally (French) cabaret and (German) circus, and some German channels have the odd "oompah beer evening", rather puzzling stuff! During the recent Mozart celebrations, I managed to see most of his operas for free. Great stuff, now getting very rare on British TV. Sometimes I tune into RAI1 on Astra1, look at the films listing, then turn dish towards Hotbird if there's something especially good. The older James Bond films are all enjoyable, in German or Italian!
