Geosat Micro and Geosat 1200 Receivers

I have tried the Micro on a different dish with no diseqc switch involved. Also I had the voltage checked which showed 18V.

I ask again is it a software problem.I am in Africa what am I to do? The point is that the 1200 is working fine and I cant understand what is going on.Please assist.

Thanks.

Was the voltage tested at the receiver or at the LNB end of the cable? If the former the central core might not be making a good electrical connection with the socket. If there's voltage at the LNB end then it's probably time for a replacement receiver.

Voltage was tested at the receiver.I use the same cables and LNB for the Geosat 1200 and I dont have any problems.

Cyberham you have a Micro what LO are you using and also which LNB.

If one of the receivers has a loopthrough then use that to connect to the dish.

Can somebody tell me which orbital position satellite E5 is in? I'm trying to understand using Lyngsat which FTA active transponders are actually located on that satellite. When using a universal LNB, I use the 9750/10600 LO setting. My universal LNB is an Avenger PLL single output. But usually I use a "standard" LNB with LO of 10750 MHz and receiving range of 11700 to 12200 MHz.

The microHD can be connected with NO LNB voltage on via the loop through on the 1200. This would confirm if the microHD works when it doesn't need to supply voltage to the LNB.

I assume that diseqc Port 3 that is configured is the correct port of the switch where the dish is connected. Have you tried running a "Preprogrammed TPs" scan? Sometimes blind scans won't show any results but a Preprogrammed TP scan does.

ADDED: It appears "E5" may in fact be SES 5 at 5.0E. In this case, there are lots of FTA transponders available with footprints on South Africa.

I have a GSP microHD and I'm quite familiar with it. Please advise in detail how you have it configured. If allowed, an image or two of the configuration screens would be useful. Also, information about what you have tried to make it work.

Does the microHD signal strength meter show anything when connected to an LNB but not pointed at a satellite, or tuned to a frequency that doesn't exist?

In that case, the Signal Level likely shows an upscale reading. But Signal Quality would be 0 or maybe bobbling up to 5%.

With the above in mind, in Image #1 above, there is no Signal Level reading. This suggests the microHD is not seeing the LNB or the LNB is not receiving power. See image below. Note how usually there is an upscale Signal Level reading when dish is pointed at the satellite but a transponder is selected that is not valid.LNB Connected.jpg

Image below is receiving a valid transponder.

I should have said signal level. Some of my receivers show something (e.g. Openbox V8S shows 45%) when connected to the LNB but not pointed at a satellite. If the same receiver shows 0% I know there's a problem with the connection, but not all receivers act this way.

Edit: thanks for the updated post with photos :Y

I used the 1200 loop connected to the Micro ,however, the Micro does not scan at all. With the 1200 being on port 2 I also used the Micro on port 2 and also on disabled. The situation is still the same.

Regardless if the microHD scanned, in this configuration, did the microHD receive a signal from any of the active transponders that were being received by the 1200?

That's significant. Why not try a Factory Reset. You have nothing to lose at this point.

Try a cable with a longer centre core that pokes out further from the F-connector.

So if it does with @cyberham , question is if that also happens with @wium78 / archibald?
If not, I would think something is definitely wrong with the tuner/receiver.

I would say we have pretty much checked every probable cause outside of the receiver, and the usual suspects in the setting menus. Leaves a software, or hardware defect, of the receiver itself?

Greetz,

The photo in post #24 shows 0% signal level.

@wium78 Testing for volts at the non-receiver end of the cable would confirm a good connection at the receiver.

ozumo tried your suggestion with regard to the longer centre core.No luck. The point is that with my 1200 I have no problems using the same cable with the Micro disconnected. a33 I go along with you what is wrong receiver/software.Being in Africa it now becomes a problem.
