And another link with my childhood passes away. I watched every one of his puppet series right the way through from Twizzle, Torchy and Four Feather Falls right the way through to Joe 90 and the strange live action/puppet series Secret Service starring the incomparable Stanley Unwin.

Then there were the live action series UFO, The Protectors and Space 1999, wich I also avidly followed. I wasn't that keen on Terrahawks or the rebooted Captain Scarlet.

RIP Gerry, you were absolutely brilliant.

Captain Scarlet was always my favourite - never seem to see that on tv these days. Thinking of buying the dvd of the original series :)

I've just been looking on Ama**n at Thunderbirds Remastered Box Set: Cripes, there are some real curmudgeons who write Reviews. "Sod the content, just look at the horrid cropping".

I really think that most programmes originally shot in 4:3 ratio should be left that way as they do not lend themselves to being sliced off at the top and bottom. The first film I saw that had been cropped was Disney's The Sleeping Beauty and it was dreadful.

Having said that, a bit of money was spent on remastering the original Star Trek series in 16:9 and it's a not bad version. But then they did have access to the original negatives which had been stored in some Utah caverns!

Yes, I do. It starred Patrick Wymark IIRC.

I've found some more of the Anderson collection here

Stingray, Joe 90, the original Thunderbirds film(s), and the new generation Captain Scarlet(which aren't bad at all, just a bit departed) DVD's.

A brilliantly re-edited version of the Thunderbirds film from 1964.
