Hi,

I have orderd a Dreambox 800 HD PVR and will get this hoping next week.

I am a total newbie on these recievers. I don't have a clue where to start and begin to get what i want from this recievers. So i am asking you guys to help me with some issues such as;

I have heard from a friend that also has a dreambox and he said that he gets many paid channels for free.

So if i get the Dreambox i want to know some things first.

1. Can i get the paid channels for free mostly the movie channels (and how do you get them free).
2. Wich programs do you need to get the paid channels for free.
3. What kind of dish or other things do i need.
4. Can you put a harddisk in this reciever (for putting movies on it like MKV,Divx files and whats the max output 1080p?).
5. I have seen on a forum that soemone had 12 LNB'S installed on his dish i also want to know how do you get this done i don't want 12 LNB's but i realy like to recieve as many channels as i can so how many lnbs do i need and how to install them on my dish what other things do i need.
6. i have reading about flashing your Dreambox with images and stuff can seomone please give me more nfo about that and hou this can be done and you have to do this for getting the free paid channels.
7. and also if i get the paid channels for free how to update the dreambox to still get the channels for free.
8. any other things that i need to know to get this working for me.

i dont know if the tv matters but i have full HD TV 1080p.

i live in the netherlands

again if soemone can help me out with this that would be great

sorry for the many question i just want to be prepared when i get the Dreambix 800 HD

thanks

1. No you cannot without either a subscription or joining a card sharing ring
2. Not applicable
3. Depends on what satellites on the arc you want to receive
4 By definition a PVR would not be a PVR unless it could accept a hard drive either internally or externally
5, to do that you would need a wave frontier dish but it would be cheaper to have a motorised dish.
6 The information about flashing is all contained in the idiots guide, reading it will enlighten you

7 You need to read the appropriate section but you will not get paid channels completely free why are you obsessed with updates? updates of what?
8 You will have to learn how to do what is necessary and it will take you many hours, nobody on here is going to teach you. The purpose of a forum is personal self improvement by reading the information provided by other members.

If you want to be prepared for your Dreambox 800 HD then you have to read

Topper is bang on.

you cant any pay channels for free you either need to pay for a server or share with friends read up on the forum many great tutorials to help you learn

the dm800 hd max resolution is 1080i

you can connect to other satellites using a motorised dish which will allow you to switch between dishes enabling you more channels

you can connect a hard drive internerlly using a 2.5" sata drive and externelly using a hard drive which supports esata or usb

best advice is to do some reading up on it all

sounds like someone coming from cable as he is on about all the software updates you have to do to combat the channel moving ect they used to do!

Do some research my friend as you will need it to get started
