Advice Needed Getting new motorised setup

My Satellite Setup
1.2 Meter motorised dish with ultra black LNB

Hi all
Next Wednesday I shall be getting a motorised setup to plug in my LG 55LA970W 4k TV. I've already asked for a ultra black LNB as I've read they're the best LNB. However the install guy has text me the dish and motor details as this

Dish is sat plus 1.2m offer steel and motor is technomate TM2600.

Now I can't find any details on sat plus at all and is this motor OK?

I did a quick internet search, regarding your television, and it states it has a built in Freeview tuner, and no mention of a satellite tuner.
Do you already have a satellite receiver?
You are allowed to install up to a 1 Metre dish, without the need of planning permission, in most circumstances, but you can usually get away with a 1.2M providing it's not really noticeable and the neighbours don't complain.
Where is your installer planning to site the dish, ground level or on the wall?
 
Yes the tv has unofficially got a satellite tuner although LG will not confirm it unless you live in Sweden for some reason. I currently have a temporary 80cm with 4 LNBs into a diseq but it was installed badly and will be coming down and being replaced with this 1.2m there is another 1.2 2 doors away that's been there for years and no one bats a eyelid so this on the back of the house about 8 metres up will be fine. The tv has all the options you could possibly need for diseq, motors and other stuff.

Spec says that dish is 1.1x1.2m and weighs 11.2Kg. Not exactly heavy but unless you live in a very sheltered location in Portsmouth it seems a bit optimistic to mount it on a diseqc motor. Maybe the installer is hoping for some extra re-alignment fees after each gale?

Unofficially, does the DiSEqC function mention 1.2 / USALs or Goto-X ? If not, you will need another box of tricks to drive the motor.
 
The image shows it has a motor function and I have very similar LG TV with option for Diseqc and USALS motors.

Personally I find it clunky, I'd prefer using a receiver for anything other than Diseqc switching.
 
I would recommend a stab hh 1.2 motor for that dish, a bit slow but spot on for accuracy. How sensitive is the sat tuner? I too would suggest a seperate receiver.
 
Well currently my setup is tuned for astra 28 and 19, hotbird and Eutelsat 10 but I have learned you can't do hotbird and eutelsat without a motor as the LNBs are too close together. Anyway the eutelsat currently gets 9e and a little of 7e suggesting it's somewhere near 8e. The tv does a alright job but since i have nothing to compare it to I really don't know.

I'll see if I can find something in the Swedish version of the manual for the specs.

Aceb where did you find those specs on the dish as I can't find anything.

I live in the terrace housing of Southsea a little sheltered and a tree about 5M tall 6Meters away from the dish spot. So want to make sure I'll clear it.

Ah found the dish. Does it have to be a certain dish when you're using a motor with it? I was thinking more of a channel master from what I've read.

It can be any dish you choose but the motor has to be strong enough to handle the weight, including the extra force from any winds.
I use a 36V motor, with my CM 1.2M, and this is ground mounted, to cut down on stress from bad weather, and allow easy access for any repairs, or re-alignment.
Are you by the sea? I'm just thinking of rust issues, in the future.
 
Well there's a bit of gust today but you wouldn't know it in the back garden. I live a mile from seafront itself but there's a lot of buildings in the way. What can be a gale on the seafront is a small breeze in the back garden where the dish is going. I'll probably go with a stab. Anyway the install guy is quoting £390 for all install. Seems a bit steep to me. As far as I can work out the bits come to 200 so would be 200 for his time. Either way I'm tempted by a gibby or a channel master as this satplus just screams cheap.

I've ended going with a CM with the black ultra LNB and technomate tm2600 motor. Going to stick with the TV as it's very close to being able to decode 4k signals thanks

A Channel Master dish is way too heavy for that motor or any other make of Diseqc motor, it won't last 5 minutes in any wind. If you want a Channel Master dish you will need a polar mount, actuator and a 36v positioner ( like a v box II or similar) Or if you are lucky enough to find one , a Jaeger 1224 H to H motor.

Didn't realise the weight. I did think fibreglass would be lighter then steel. Looks like a gibertini and a stab which is what they recommend.

Channel Master dishes are made of glass fibre reinforced polyester and
are virtually bullet proof they are that well made, but an aside of this is that they are bloody heavy, approx 15.2kg for a 1.2m dish.
 
OK so that one's out the equation. Did phone a shop just before you said that and they said the same. They recommend the stab with the gibby.

Which Gibby? A 1.25m is quite heavy... or at least the brackets are. Do make sure it's in a very sheltered location or you risk it landing on someone's head in any sort of wind.
