Getting started - Help needed!

Echostar 8082ci, Matrix Reloaded, Aston Cam 1.5, Black ICE. Metronic DisEQC Motor, 80cm Dish, Monoblock LNB.

Hey dudes,

Spent the weekend mounting a dish, pointing to 19.2E, connected to an Echostar 808ci. I have a Magic CAM with MR 1.081 software, and a free-x CAM as well.

If I understand correctly, the MR software allows me to decrypt channels using Via, Seca, etc by emulating the appropriate CAM and smartcards - I am getting Dutch TV, as well as some German TV as well. I guess my question is, is it worth investing in a programmer, such as the infinity phoenix and some fun cards, and will this help me get more channels. I have tried entering keys in the CAM settings but this seems a bit cumbersome, and I'm not really sure what I'm doing.

Next, does the free-x cam give me anything other than the free x tv, and fta channels? Is this the same as an Icecrypt cam?

Hope these questions aren't too stupid..!
 
A phoenix programmer and a couple of titanium cards would probably be of more use, but a couple of fun cards for CAM update would also help.
 
Thanks for the response. I have noticed a number of posts regarding titanium cards - what are they and what can they do, over and above fun cards and the like? Do they take on identity of other cards? And I presume just stick in the Matrix cam?
 
Sorry - being dumb - I use the Titanium to prog the cams, and the fun cards to update codes?
 
From what i have read it seems to be good. TMB 2.6 is the latest files for Sly.
I have a phoenix smartmouse for prog my titanium card, dont know about much else until i read up on it. Brouse around the forums on this sit and you will see a load of good info. Look up programmers and see what yours does.
