Goodbye win xp :-(

Still got a 160MB drive that was in my Amiga somewhere in a box....
 
Somehow I knew 4gb would never be the smallest drive amongst the computer owners here :D

I think my first drive was a 49 MB Seagate SCSI, it may have been the smallest of the lot. Failed to spin up in the end (could be coaxed by little rapid rotations to spin platters slightly).
Had a series of 60, 80, and 120 MB IDE drives. DOS and all that.
then upwards in size and interface.
Smallest capacity remaining is a pair of 9 GB SCSI drives, that I just haven't gotten around to throw out yet (they're at the back of the storage).
 
I can vividly recollect taking the 40MB drive out a Compaq SLT 286 laptop and replacing it with a monster 340MB (Conner Peripherals) drive in the early 90s. A little jiggery pokery was needed to get the 9.5mm thick drive in but I succeeded and the increase in performance was amazing. Not to mention the huge amount of storage space!

Still have the laptop somewhere but when the PSU died I had to stop using it.
 
I've got a Conner 120MB laptop HDD somewhere, came out of my Contura 4/25 laptop... :D

you could use a few and create a nice RAID [emoji4] that should speed things up a bit
 
Hasd to revert back to xp for the time being - win 7 64 bit wasnt playing nicely with my tv card.

The software was seeing it - but no pictures. Same problem with win7 media centre - the channels scanned in fine but just black screens. So I shall start again with win7 32 bit

Maybe 64 bit is the problem. Can you try W10 32 bit?
 
Win 8 & 10 no - it wont boot onto this machine. Even installing onto another computer then switching the drives - no cigar
 
Sounds like a renderer issue, the K-lite codec pack could be useful in helping with that... :)
 
The odd thing is that it worked the first evening. And refused to work at all yesterday.

I reseated the card and spent most of yesterday tinkering with it. I'll try the codec pack before I switch to a 32 bit build.

64bit isnt much of an advantage here as the motherboard only shows 3.5gb ram anyway
 
I have an XP machine and a Windows 7. I want to keep XP because there are things I can do on there that I can't do on 7. To each, their own! :D
