Got another laser related problem ..

RNIB supplied a talking book to a blind person at over £200 ..
but it no longer reads discs ...
So suspect the laser ...but this isnt easily obtained or replaced.
The Carer told me that after contacting both RNIB and Plextor who make it ..no help getting it repaired ..
They refused ..
but offered to sell them a new one ..
So ..
in short it is now in my shop for repair.
Opening it up reveals it uses a slot fed cd drive similar to that used in aplle notebooks and apple server units ..
Model Number TCR-241 ..

So been on ebay and searched ..but found nowt in the UK ..but did find this

Dut sadly does not ship to the UK ...
Perhaps Costa or Terry can help here ?
Unless one of our UK members has one they want to sell ???

Just weighed the one I have from the Audio book unit ..
Weighs in at a fraction over half a pound ..
So 3 of them should weigh under 2lb ..plus packing of course ..
each unit is approx 5 inches square and half an inch thick

I almost lost an arm or two this week due to an 8 ton bottle jack having an internal leak, and it's brand new out of the box, I was out leveling my new 40 foot Sea-Land storage container (weighs in at 8200 pounds) and had both arms under it putting the cross timbers in place, out of the corner of my eye I saw the clearance getting real small real fast, I almost had to jump out of the way, that was why I had to go to town, to really lay it into the store, I will NEVER buy another one from Harbor Freight again, cheap stuff but not worth an arm.

So jack's???....not a good subject right now.

Captain Jack did say a 'nice' jack. Besides in the automotive trade it is standard to use a prop as well as a jack on any vehicle before undertaking a repairr.
