GTMedia GTCombo 4:2:2 receiver

Ha ha - just trying to cut down on the time required to do a thorough search.
Just scanned low band vertical and not found nowt - will continue

Low band Hor scanned - nothing found.
I don't use a 'Universal' lnbf set-up so results are slower to report - will jump to high band search

It is important to understand that what is transmitted on this frequency does not correspond at all to the standard norms.
My TBS 6983 card doesn't see this frequency (which could be S2X), the MIO4K sees this frequency (BS) but doesn't find anything on it (it could be empty), the GTMedia Combo has the same result as the MIO4K, found in BS but nothing on it.
I also know that sometimes it is NS3/NS4 that is transmitted.
So that an "image" is once visible is already a feat, and speaks for the GTCombo.

Maybe because it`s a 4:2:2 feed.

I’ve no doubt that many have. This post has grown quite large and your original post #268 back in January is quite a bit back now, mine being post #689.

Still it just another take on someone else’s disembowelling of the now famous (or infamous, depending on your viewpoint) GT Media Combo. Always nice to have as many viewpoints as possible to make a balanced judgement.

The Combo appears to be a bit of a Marmite when it comes to receivers. You either love or hate it.

Believe me there’s quite a bit of repetition on this thread, mine being only one example. If it’s causing so much irritation I’m sure the mods could remove it.

I certainly don’t want to “pi$$ on anyone’s chips”, It was just another example of someone else’s endeavours besides your own. Point taken though.

TBS6902se has the montage M88rs6060 tuner (same tuner can be found in enigma2 multibox receivers), which can do auto PLS discovery. But I'm curious if this card can do very low SR.

The relevant point iis the GTMedia engineers have left (deliberately or not) the frequency limits from the user interface, possibly since it was found the receiver will scan outside the ends even though the chipset has fixed specification. There shoud be no real reason why extended symbol rate searching could not be similarly achieved if the firmware allows it.

The very first DVB tuners in the 90's used SAW filters as a crude way of offering lower symbol rate reception.

in any case the GTMedia Combo with the same type of tuner ( M88RS6060 )can go down to sr 550
 
So, if this GTmedia receiver you all have been raving about has the rs6060 tuner, then the engineers have no excuse to still have not implemented dB values. That's just as simple as it gets.
