Hi all.........................Have been using the V8 UHD and finding extremely good results and at a superb price.

My GT Combo has now arrived and would like to know what is the preferred firmware version to install following your own trials and experiences.

I have read both here and at the GTMedia forum that there are still many bugs to be looked at and hopefully sorted but I know after all these years here, we have dedicated sat enthusiasts who sort of break the mold of the 'norm'

Another sample
This time the sensitivity .
Test at 26° east.
Comparison with the TBS 6983 card with very good sensitivity.
Here the receiver can show its strength
With three transponders which are shown with -10dB on the 6983 (no picture is shown no matter which video player)
the GT Combo 4k gets a picture on all three (OK not very nice, but still).
Two transponders that get a No lock with the TBS
are also shown without lock on the receiver, but the signal bar already shows a signal (like the X810 or F500 back then).

Create an m3u playlist on a USB stick on your Combo box. Pop it into your PC. You can then view all your channels on the Combo via your PC with the Combo acting as a server using VLC in real time instead of recording these channels for viewing off line. Don't forget GT Share which works on both Apple and Android devices too

The receiver also offers us this special function
It is not as good as on the Openbox.
when the signal reaches its limits
it jumps from 16 to 40 % very quickly.
but it is not bad and you know
whether there is still a lot to do or not.

Is the combo the box to beat with regards to tuner sensitivity? I don't own any GTMedia receivers, but I do have their BT03 sat meter and I am very impressed with it.

Aye, that's reet.

That test was on 39.0 East where most of the Middle East beam feed frequencies have an FEC of 5/6.
The SF8008 was definitely the better performer on that occasion.

However, I have not repeated the comparison test between the GTMedia Combo and the SF8008 for fringe reception with lower FEC's.

The tuner on the GT Media V8 UHD is definitely quite sensitive but the Combo has the software player that will attempt to resolve the video from the transport stream on 4.2.2 feeds, not perfectly but they are viewable.

Of course you can use the GTMEDIA GT Share utility to stream the transport stream to any reasonably spec Android or Apple device where given the correct codecs will play those 4.2.2 streams smoothly, your GT Media receiver acting as a server.

In fairness for the price you are getting a cheaply priced 4K receiver covering right up to DVB S2X so that can’t be a bad thing.

I did mention earlier you can create your own m3u playlist on a USB stick and in my case I just plug it into the board I have LibreELEC running on and it’s the perfect media client which will happily play 4.2.2 feeds in real time.

sensitivity of the V8 UHD compared to the GTcombo 4K (as I do in my comparisons).
On my side, of all the receivers I have tried (and the number is quite large)
the GTcombo is really one of the best, and maybe the best.
I have to try in all cases ( DVB-S ; DVB-S2 ; 8PSK ; 16PSK etc....)
but for the moment I am impressed by the receiver,
so I ask to see if V8 HD is definitely better (with pictures)

I am not saying the GTMEDIA V8 UHD is better than the GTMEDIA Combo. What I did say is that the GTMedia V8 UHD tuner is quite sensitive for my purposes. Did you mention that you already owned a V8 UHD.

Not truly knowing I doubt there’s much difference in the tuner hardware on those receivers. While you get certain specs included in their sales literature they generally don’t drill down to that level. You might get an answer on the GTMEDIA forum from users over there. Some very knowledgeable owners there may be able to assist on that one.

That's great for you, but we can't compare your reception to mine
, we are not in the same place, we have to compare from the same place
If I tell you that I receive akilli TV on 46°East without any problem, do you receive it with your SF8008 ?
to compare several receivers, you need to have the same conditions.
