GTMedia GTCombo 4:2:2 receiver

The Combo boxes seem to be a bit flakey since the latest firware update?

The 16E issue might be a data frequency that it has mistakenly locked as a video signal and you are scrolling past it in the list.
I have seen it before with other Android satellite Poop pourers where it displays the "app stopped working" message on screen then reboots the box.

You could test out a blind scan on a satellite with a lot of data frequencies, see how it copes?
not sure if the issue has always been there, tempted to try their first or second firmware, but the older ones are hard to get....links dont usually work.

Thanks, I'm not sure if anyone has tried the two and would be able to answer this.

But would something like an Octagon SF8008 4k + streaming the 422 feed via VLC on an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 perform better than the GT Combo?
Any box that can serve a .ts stream will do. The Combo is not a hardware solution to 4.2.2 broadcasts. The Combo built in player does all the heavy lifting which from all reports is far from satisfactory and is easily achievable from a combination you mention above.

the only advantage of the GTCombo is that you don't need a PC next to the receiver to see the 4.2.2.
and it doesn't take up the computer

whthout freeze and stop and delay?
There’s so many options to view 4.2.2 feeds. Obviously the GT Combo is an integrated approach but it’s not perfect. Assuming any receiver has a sensitive enough tuner all you need is a transport stream and you can play it on any capable platform.

In my case I built a LibreELEC box based on a RockPro64 SBC (cost €40) which will play a 4.2.2 stream either with a direct stream or via a playlist I create. No choppy stuttering video here.

Earlier, tried GTMedia GTCombo v GTMedia V8 UHD sensitivity comparison and again it appears that re: sensitivity/reception the V8 UHD gains:-

Es'hail-2 - 25.8° E x-band

10492 H 1500 ID:- 'A71A' Es’hailsat promo'

Good reception with the V8 UHD 69% 'Quality' reading.................GTCombo just 5% 'Quality' reading, both with 1.8m dish Alicante, España.

¿Is there a hardware/firmware difference reason the Combo fails with this particular frequency or........?

Like others here, still feel the two receivers are great value and just personally wish the V8 UHD had the more modern and colorful interfaces of the Combo............guess the V8 UHD shows its age

With luck and thanks to your input to GTMedia the next firmware release for the Combo will improve things.

All be safe.

Interesting they appear to be able to tune below the usual range, is this with a standard non-modified LNB?

Thanks and yes, using an old Inverto quad............and pleased to say that even with the tight space I have re: line of sight  , both the GTCombo and V8 UHD captured 62.0ºE transponders so I know for certain that both receiver tuners I would class as very sensitive.

Probably gain even more if the dishes were offset and not PF.....but no complaints!

Sleep well. :Y

Just important to say that a 'Blind Scan' did not find 10492 H 1500 but after manually entering and scanning the frequency a later 'Preset Scan' safely found the frequency from the stored transponder list........still a good result!

Awesome...turn it to a motorized will be useful

Yes - also have the same problem and is a pain.
Followed on with a message to confirm the problem straight after your post on the GTMedia site page :Y , and also a gripe about GTMedia taking too long to resolve issue's etc.
ive worked out what causes it
its a channel between numbers 76 -80 (for me) that kill it
its the channel after "viasat nature sd" that kills it
cant even get to show it to delete it in channel manager - maybe its the 1 TP with 4 channels.

yes 10927 H 29999 is the issue, u cannot even delete the TP - it crashes

contains these channles:

im trying a work around....adding a new sat - and then blind scanning it.

The default setting of Es'hail - on this GTMedia receiver - is 25.5E.

The Es'Hail 2 is not listed , though with the inability to lock onto positions accurately, (single decimal point) is probably best to set the receiver to the Badr group at 26E and hope for the best.

Interestingly the Combo here does not complete a scan on the QO-100 transponder despite allowing the out of band parameters to be added to the list. On the small dish here I am getting signal of 75% and quality of 63% though I am using an old LNB (will change it for a bullseye later today)
Additionnaly by changing the orbital slot from 26.0 to 25.8 a duplicate satellite is created in the listings. Unfortunately bugs then start creeping in, making scanning almost impossible.

Btw there appear to be no goalposts within the transponder settings (one can set any manual frequency in or outside the IF band) and these remain after powering down, which could be of use with C band extended frequency stuff using standard LNB local oscillators.

Not sure which button I pressed.

Interesting, where is @John he will likely be sniffing that one out with his rib tickler on 40.5W or 65.2W.
