GTMedia GTCombo 4:2:2 receiver

Unfortunately, my GT Combo also broke down last year, with no hope of being repaired.
I now have a V9 prime. It's not as sensitive with low-power carriers as the Combo.
of course it doesn't do 422 directly (although on the combo it was sometimes very unstable) otherwise it's a very decent receiver
where you can indicate the frequencies of 10490 (amateur radio on 26 East) which allows you to use a standard LNB, it can also read very small SR (sr300 is the limit that can be given with the original firmware). With Mars, it can go even lower (be careful, once the receiver is on Mars, it's very difficult to go back to zero).
Thank you for the useful information. For the cost I think I will give it a try.

Oh dear! an expensive weekend. It is most likely something like that that damaged mine.
So back to the question, what would I lose with a V9 Prime (£25) over a GT Combo (£85) apart from DVB T that I have never used??
If the V9 does not have a UHD/4K output, and you have a large screen and watch internet stuff through the one box it may restrict you.

Quite true. Another point is 4.2.2, the Combo produces a picture albeit juddery. The V9 won't.

Hmm, 2-4fps on some things 10fps if lucky and totally mangled if the aspect ratio is unusual

Was that a guess ?
Analog output is totally independent with HDMI, because it is produced in processor before HDMI part. But as we know now, GT Combo sadly has no AV output.
But it has SPDIF output, so Joolz should try can this optical out make some sound.

I found this video from a 1080p 4:2:2 feed recorded a few weeks ago. It shows the frame rate achieved. The broken audio is typical.

Still very pleased with my GT Media Combo but I wonder if anyone else has spotted a problem with BBC News HD. I am talking about the version that goes out to Europe on 19.2E or 26E for the Middle East. When I select it the output goes very light and edgy. Mine is working with its output set to1080i. Only when you select another channel does it go back to normal. Other receivers I have work perfectly normal. Something for you to try yourselves.

several BBC News europe channels are in SD (hotbird)
a few are in HD (one on asra1)

guess its relying on cpu for 422 decoding rather than the decidated silicone. Years ago i tried 422 on an nvidia shield. was a mess with anything over 12mbit

Hi,

quick question!

How can I switch the Audio Track.

I lent my Combo and I do not know howto explain it from memory:-)

Try pressing the blue key?

Thanks for answering, but the blue key did not do anything, they told.
Any way today I get my box back.
cheers
Sorry that didn't fix your problem. I re-checked mine this morning and my answer is correct. Maybe a firmware update would help?

Yes, firmware 1.29 allows the audio swicth via the blue button, which version are you running ?

Hi,

forgot to mention that the gtplayer is used and an m3u File is imported with IPTV Streams.

(I have my box back and it's true nothing is happening with blue key)

Best

hi chaps

can someone test something for me...or do you know if it happens to you already or not BUT....

if im recording using the main SAT tv app and then turn off my TV, OR switch to another HDMI source, it kills the GTCOMBO recording...im sure its a CEC thing

i need it to NOT care if im turning the TV off, or switching source.

can anyone help?

I dont think its an Android setting, as it doesnt do it on the android menus for apps etc, just the sat tv app

I have found the bluetooth on the Combo remote has become increasingly unreliable in the past month but it did start remembering the main TV remote to tuen on/off (which I had not asked it to do )around mid January.

Give me about 30 minutes, I was soldering the tuners to ensure a better connection to the outside world as I believe DiSEqC motor issues are all down to poor earthing/loose metal at the rear of the receiver.

I am using a 64GB USB stick for recording so unsure if I can repeat your issues.

Thanks

All you need to do, is hit record, then turn off your TV (or change HDMI input to something else) and then go back to the COMBO and see if its still recording, OR to see if its stopped.
drives me potty- have to leave it on the channel on TV to successfully record something
