Just Sharing This Gtmedia or free sat v7 hd satellite tv receiver

So ..did a quick blindscan of 2 sats 19.2E and 13E ..
TV only FTA only ..
very impressed with the blindscan speed ..
HD picture upscaled on the UHD TV is amazing considering the size of this pocket sized box..
found approx 980 channels ..
..WOT no UHD ?
lol

Checked the Openbox a few minutes ago, and it was a couple over 3000 - so should fairly similar.

When I came back to the m/c, the number was actually 3008 - without the Hotbird complex.

So, now running a full blindscan on Hotbird to see what happens - so far, it's over 350, but who knows?
Edited: It found nearly another 800, and the final total is 3801. Then tested the box by running it first to 52E and checking a station, then to 28E and checking a station, rebooting and running it back to 13E and checking a station - still running OK with 3801 stations listed.

Might try pushing it over 4000 if I can find another sat with a lot of channels that I haven't already blindscanned (done about 20 so far).

Doesn't matter what happens (I hope!) because I going to Factory Reset it tomorrow and send it back on Friday! :D

Added 4.8E, and so now 4040 channels and checking it all still works! - Yes!

Getting mixed up here: 3E & 7E already scanned, now trying 8W.

Anything worth watching?

3E & 30W added - now 4766 channels and the machine works OK and moves the dish properly after a reboot.

At this point, I've pretty much run out of "lucrative" sats to scan to build up the numbers, and so, I guess, the Openbox has a capacity of 5000+ channels, and so it would be useful if someone could now work out/confirm what the Freesat box (at least the V7, and maybe the V8) has.

Now this looks curious ..and quite unexpected..
but useful if I'm correct ..
It looks like you can mix and match fixed ..diseqc ..or motors usals or diseqc 1.2..??
For example ..
you could have a fixed minidish at 28.2E ...the Eastern arc birds except 28.2 on usals ...switching to diseqc 1.2 for a vbox motor system for western arc birds ..
or multiple lnbs using disqc 1.1 on a dish covering the eastern half arc ...and muliple lnbs on a seperate dish using diseqc 1.1 on the wastern half arc ...and still switch away to a fixed mini dish at 28.2E..
??
I dont think I have seen a receiver that allows seperate identification of switching or motor per satellite before ..in such a small package..
I may be wrong and it is late ..but this is how it's looking..
Normally (or at least on many receivers) if you set the motor to usals ..this would then apply to ALL satellites ...but you have to set usals individually to each satellite in the list ...which begs the question ..
Could you mix and match ?
Obviously you would have to use some switching prior to the motors to achieve this

So something like this (see image attached)

This certainly looks to be the case ...much like my complex switch system ...but all allowed by this tiny box..
If true ..this is powerful indeed ..

FWIW, the Openbox has a similar menu where you can select whether or not to use USALS or not on a satellite-by-satellite basis.

OTOH, I think your diagram must be incorrect in showing a Diseqc 1.0 switch where it does because, if I am not wrong, you need an "uncommitted" Diseqc 1.1 switch in that position to transmit the "secondary" signals to the connected boxes. Certainly, last year, I found (literally to my cost) that I could not connect those BEST 1.0 switches in series and have that happen.

Even many 1.1 switches won't do that (also found to my cost with the Opticum 10-way one), and I had to get a specialised uncommitted EMP one to do it (but now currently unused !)

Indeed. My Skybox F3 boxes are configured in mix and match modes.

And my ancient Fortec Star was capable in that way too.

You can't mix and match DiSEqC 1.0 switches in series but you CAN mix and match different DiSEqC versions... so a 1.2 switch can sit behind a 1.0 switch, just like USALS can also sit behind 1.0, since they take different commands.

Also, on VS's diagram there is an uncommitted 8 port switch on port 3 of 1.0 one...

You are both correct of course ..
I was simply surprised to find this much versatility in a £20 box which doesnt initially look as though it would run a usals motor ..
So thought I'd share my joy and surprise..
;)

..and fwiw ..I have used usals motors on the ports of diseqc 1.o 4 x port switches before ..
For example on the F15 ..

Thanks - that's not the "impression" I must have got last year from what I read in various places (you learn something every day - or at least I do!).

OTOH, could VS please confirm that the 1.1 switch on Port 3 of the 1.0 switch is an uncommitted version (the diagram does not indicate that, and not all 1.1 switches appear to be uncommitted - certainly you have to obtain an "unobtainable" programmer to set the Opticum 10 way 1.1 switch to uncommitted mode!), or not - as that gives me some ideas as to what I could possibly do here?

The V7 quite happily runs my LNB changer from Diseqc 1 via a mini STAB 1-1.2 converter, whilst at the same time using Diseqc 1 to change my LNB via a 4 way Diseqc switch, no problems at all.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "Yes, it.." - what is the "it"?

Sorry, the V7 box, or as I call it 'The Fag Packet'

Post now edited....

So ..this mornings bit of fun is to hopefully test the usals td88 setup from 30W to 53E using the preset (default) sats in the box ..again only capturing TV and RTA using blindscan ..
Basically to see if I can pass the assumed 2000 channel limit ..
I could easily pass this limit if I accepted encrypted TV channels as well ..but thats not what I'm after.
Not all sat positions possible are in the presets list ...
but just for fun I set it off ..
been running about 15 minutes so far and have a channel list of around 300 ..but have yet to hit the bigger multiplexes..
;)
Later I want to test the V7s ability to overide limits ..
which do appear to be around + - 60 deg
For example ..
I know that the setup I'm using can reach 68.5E ..but the box refused saying 'out of range' ..
But I assume the 60 E limit can be over-ridden ..but maybe on a sat by sat stored basis ?
