My Satellite Setup
No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...
My Location
Near Pontop Pike, Co. Durham
Here's one for you, spotted this recently on Google Streetview in a local repair shop (well, it was the 72-75 year old Hoover 825 next to it that interested me, but the TV is pretty cool in it's own right!!!), so I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone has any guesses as to what make it is, it's certainly a retro TV, and I'm guessing it's a 405-line VHF TV though... :)

Sod the TV, I'm concerned that GoogleView can be used for looking into first floor bedroom windows.

What next, GoogleSniff for the bicycle shed fetish ?

Er, how many streets did you go through and how many windows did you look in to find your fave hoover ?
(and have you come across anything "interesting") ?

Nah, the streetview cams aren't high enough to see into 1st floor windows, not unless you're in a shortarse new build, but even then I'm sure they blur it out before it's uploaded, and that said, most of the windows I've looked into have just had a black look to them, I guess they just pick the right time of day to make it look like that... :)

None, I have no fave model Hoover, I'm not a Hoover fan, but that one is vintage, so is still interesting, I'm just not interested in trying to acquire it... :p

But how did you come across that Hoover ? Driving around the streets looking for a lonely Kirby ? I thought that Kirby crawling was ilegal ?

I was just looking about the town in google Streetiew to see if there was anyone about that I'd recognise (hardly anyone to be honest!!!), and just happened to spot the shape of a very old Hoover model 825 in the top window of the local TV & Vac repair shop, the photos above though I took (with permission), they're not from Streetview... :)

I haven't been on the hunt for a Kirby for a while now, the only model I really want is in the US, so that would cost a bomb to import to the UK, not to mention getting the 110v power supply I'd need for it... :(

Looks a bit like a mid 50s 17 in GEC, but not totally convinced coz I think the GEC had flatter sides

The o/p knows the address, has driven by (probably on numerous occasions), and has taken pictures, but daren't ask the owner directly.

Make of that what you will.

I did actually ask, but they don't know and can't check cos they say there's loads of old TVs and vacuums between it and their workspace... :p

They forgot that the Hoover 825 was even there until I mentioned it... :p

You could get a builders drop down box. a 3kva box should power a vacum, round about £60.00

I've been thinking of that, it's just not a priority at the moment... :)

Got some US sockets to replace the big ol' 110v socket on a site transformer, not to mention a tin of black paint to make it look nicer than it is in it's garish yellow... :D
