Lol it is actually an expression we use in German, but in a humerous nature. In Germany you would say "ashes upon my head", but some time ago I had to look it up for a precise translation and it has stuck ever since
I am pretty sure it has something to do with the old testament and Hiob, but hey that's the beauty of religion everybody can use whatever they like....
