Happy Halloween

Many years ago I was down at my folks house on Halloween. They were fed up of kids knocking the door, so next time some little brat came hammering on the door I opened it. The ensuing conversation went summat like this:

Brat: "Trick or treat?"
Me: "Trick". Then I shot him between the eyes with a water pistol that happened to be behind the door
Brat "Splutter splutter - oi mister thats not how it works"
Me all innocent "Oh - You got a trick instead of a treat - isnt that what you wanted?"
Brat: "Mutter mutter" as he stomped off up the drive

And that was the last interruption of the evening

Halloween, bah bloody humbug:-applause
 
Well, nobody came, so I've just downed a packet of Jelly Tots in one.

And I'm not alone .... whilst at my Bell Ringing group earlier, a friend mentioned she'd bought sweets in anticipation of brats coming round, but her hubby had yaffled them all while home on weekend leave!
 
About 20 individual groups of children, accompanied by parents saw the 'bat-sign' pumpkin in the window (not even lit), leading to a running out of treats at 18.35. All lights went out after that.

As expected no grubby urchins disturbing the peace and tranquility last night :D
 
Unusually we were in the UK for Halloween this year. Fortunately we didn't have a single knock at the door as we hadn't made any provision for "treating".
 
I'll have to remember to unplug the newly fitted light in the yard tomorrow night, just to make approaching the door that much more difficult... :D

The new place we live at is too far from anywhere again to expect any T & T'ers. I will miss the bonfire parties at the old place though. I had great fun cooking marshmallows over the bonfire then feeding all the kids them. Result loads of kids hyper due to sugar overdose (which the parents then had to calm down for bedtime). No doubt they were very glad they only saw us once a year!
