HD receiver with non HD tv

Sky 1.5 m FTE dish Amiko Alien SHD8900 receiver, Gigablue Quad
& 80cm dish for Nilesat or badr with Amstrad sky receiver
Dreambox 500s motsat3 motor
My Location
Totana Murcia Spain

Most probably a silly question
Can you use a HD receiver with a non HD tv. Will it show HD channels?

Yes you can. Most (probably all) receivers in Europe have a Scart socket, or at least some form of RCA output, and you can use that to port all channels (not just SD) to the television set.
 
excellent news...thanks Huevos..do you know any where in spain that will supply a cheap ftv white card?..dont really want to pay 80 - 100 euro for one. I know i can most probably get one from uk for 20 quid but rather get it more locally

That's the price here although a few people do them cheaper. Most of them come through the same handful of suppliers so even the installers only make a very small mark up on them. If you buy one here it will be pre-activated so no agro with ringing Sky; just put the card in the slot and it will work.

You're only talking a handful of channels anyway, and with the lofting of Astra 1n immanent who knows what's around the corner.

BTW, FSFS cards are no longer 20 GBP direct from Sky.

The Card only option is still there, but the cost has increased to £25.

there is still a way to get a card for £20. go to _https://mysky.sky.com/replacecard/get-a-card, click on "don't have a viewing card" then fill in all the details. This gives you a card for £20
