HDMI CEC - What a lifesaver!

Got given 2 Receivers today.

A Miraclebox Micro Premium and a DM800HD,
No remote with the Miraclebox and I wanted to have a play. Got the IP from my router, controlled it with Openwebif and enabled HDMI CEC, now using it with my TV remote.

The DM800HD has been here before, I recapped it back in 2012 using decent Panasonic capacitors, I also did a lot of tuner modifications to it and fitted some different surface mount transistors to give it a bit more power driving a motor.

It was brought over and given to me as the bootloader is corrupted, I'll sort that out later on but I cannot fine a HDMI to DVI adapter here anywhere, so just had to dig deep and bought one off eBay for 99p.

The cec control also works with the Vu Duo/Raspberry Pi

As I only use the one tv remote

Is it a genwine Dreambox? I loved the 7020 from way back when - it was an excellent box but had issues driving a DiSEqC motor with a Gibby 1.2m hanging off it. Have plenty of experience with DM800 but only clone ones. Later models with 'M' tuner were really good value for money at the time and, if you knew what you were doing, were pretty reliable.

I'd be interested in your mod details as I haven't really heard of anyone doing this on genuine ones (don't blame them as it was 400 quid!).

No it's a Ferarri/Sim2 clone. Last time it was here I ended up using it for a bit to "test" it thoroughly as I was quite fond of it.

I'll pull the tuner out tomorrow, I know it's an Alps based tuner, can't remember what Rev it is but the mods I experimented with made a difference to it.

Just pulled the tuner out, it's a Rev J!
Looking at it I'm trying to remember what I did to it, so this may be incomplete:

Added 1000uf 16v Panasonic cap, top right hand of picture, large electrolytic, C1 was missing when box arrived with me, I think someone had been messing with it as it had been snapped off and was rattling inside the DM800! So bridged the track where C1 was and that 1000uf is an upgrade for C1 anyway.
Removed resistor and fitted 22uf cap across resistor pads next to C111 (I can't remember why I removed the resistor but there was a reason)
C13 was faulty, so replaced with another 22uf cap I had, didn't have any SMD here so put a small electrolytic there.
Replaced Q1, Q2 with Si2301BDS-T1 & Q3 with a Si2302ADS

The big black mark on the right hand side of the tuner is where I had glued a huge capacitor to get it going while I was waiting for some parts, it's just the capacitor label. Trying to think I changed anything else.

Tuner has been working perfectly for 6 years now and was running the same image I put on it for 4 years, but corrupted now so need to flash the bootloader.

Edit has timed out on the above post.
So will make corrections here:

C111 was replaced with a 22uf 25v electrolytic, it wasn't a resistor next to it.
Q3 was actually a FDN359AN which has more power to drive a motor, Si2302ADS was one others were fitting but I opted for the FDN359AN,

DM800HD is up and running,

Used a Serial cable with null modem converter, plugged in to a Hardware Expresscard RS232 Card (True serial, not USB enumerated)
Managed to get it going, flashed an old image just to try things out.

Working fine on ScareTV on 7.3W, that tuner isn't so bad at all with modifications!
