Hi All,

Following my earlier trouble with my HD box (see earlier posts) I managed to get a free new box from sky (but with taking out the HD subscription). I purchased the previous HD box independently from sky and basically used it like a sky + box and had it connected to the TV via scart. This made it easy for my parent to get hooked up to the sky box using scart control i.e. turn sky box on and the TV switches to this input. Is there anything I can do so that it will work the same with the hdmi cable? We have a Sony Bravia TV and there is an option on it where you can link the TV to hdmi devices so that it switches to that device when turned on. This works fine with the Sony DVD recorder but I can't seem to establish a link with the sky box.

I have also tried hooking up the new box with scart only but the scart control does now appear to work either. I have scart control turned on in the options. There is only one scart output on this new box and I suspect that it is for the DVD link only (i.e. no scart control). Is this correct?

Thanks,

Trev

The Sony HDMI link will only work with other Sony HDMI devices, This appears to be true for nearly all the other manufactures as well they have there own HDMI CEC link control just for there own branded products.

Just off the top of my head i can only think of one make that auto switches to HDMI like Scart does and that is Panasonic and also believe it or not the ONN brand available from Asda.

Most makes of TV with HDMI though should stay on the HDMI input when switched off completely or just put into standby and that includes the Sony or it did do that last time i tried one.
