Please don't use WD40 for lubrication. It is a Water Dispersant. It is very good at dispersing water i.e. inside a distributor cap and it is not bad at freeing up seized components. PlusGas is much better as a penetrating oil.
For lubrication and corrosion protection please use either 3 in 1 type oils or even motor oil as they are designed to lubricate, protect against corrosion, maintain film strength under pressure (stay on bearing surfaces), cool, hold combustion by products (carbon etc.) and so much more.
Sorry for lecture but I really hate to see WD40 used as a lubricant. I spent 10 years of my life testing oils and lubricants and they are all designed to do specialist jobs and they are all very good at their intended jobs.
