Hi All, My name is Antony and i have joined here in hope to have a few questions answered and to keep up with news etc. Just been made redundant from the company i worked for (18 months) Been doing Aerial and Sat installs for nearly 12 years now (Residential) Finally got fed up of making Companies big money and getting nothing in return and i have quite a few jobs lined up, Need 2 meters ( Sat and Terrestrial ) a bit pricey don't want to shell out more than £300 ( Tight Budget at moment ) but i know its important. I have everything else. If anyone can help i'm all Ears :) I Would also consider Second hand or Recon.

I don't think you'll get a meter for £300 that will do sat and terrestrial (or even two separate meters) so you'll either have to find a bit more money or settle on one or the other.
 
£300 a piece and you you'd be able to manage it. The Swires terry UHF meter for aerials, and the Emittor Satloook micro G2+ for sat. Both OK for basic install work. There's also the Terry scan with the speccie, but I've not used that. Stick 'em on a card, they'd pay for themsleves in no time.
 
I got a rover sdm 2 and WOLSEY / LACUNA Digital Aerial Terrestrial Meter Mk3 for £250 incl delivery off ebay, tested and working.... im so so so so happy can now gt back to doing what i do best and not for a company that just rip people off. ill upload some photos of work i have done in past when i get chance

Yes, good going.

Others will know for sure but I think the SDM 2 is difficult to update for other satellites and so is really an Astra 2 targeted meter. Not a problem if you're only doing $ly and Freesat installs of course!
 
Yep, I have SDM2 and I like it but I agree with PaulR, it's problem is is does not have a USB update facility. No real problem in most cases as it comes with about 70 entries as standard and it can be updated with a serial lead (extensive discussion here at _http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/satellite-meters-installation-equipment/58703-ro-ve-r-rover-satellite-meter-software.html). I think it's a much better choice than the SDM1 which I think was Astra 2 only. I've always had good support from Martin Turner Direct the agent.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's changed their own batteries as my meter barely gives me long enough now.
