Hi there, I own a property in the Canary Islands and am looking for the best way to obtain free television. I have an 80cm dish which I use at the moment to obtain sky, but the price is becoming prohibitive, could anyone give me any help please

If you want free tv just cancel your Sky subs and you will be left with all the free channels :D

If you are asking "are there any hacks for Sky UK?" the answer is no - you either pay the subs or do without.

What channels of interest in particular... and where about's are you located in the Canaries, can be fairly important with regards to dish size. Also worth noting, there are a handful of good channels available off of Nilesat.

You have not made it very clear what channels you want, but bear in mind that if you cancel Sky you will still be able to receive ITV1 (&HD), Channel 4 HD, FIVE(&HD), FIVER (&+1), FIVE USA (&+1) and SKY3 on your 80 cm dish. You will also still have access to all the BBCi sports coverage via the red button on channel 503 - page 3001.

Additionally, you will get everything shown at _flysat.com/28east.php as being on ASTRA 2A south, ASTRA 2B south and Eurobird1 fixed (although a couple of the TPs are mis-labelled there) that is not encrypted (news, movie, general entertainment and movie channels).

Also, as mentioned, at 7ºW you can get some good telly on a 65 cm dish from Nilesat (see _http://www.gazettelive.com/forum/index.php?topic=2183.0) but you will need a separate dish for this if you want both these options.
