Hi, I currently have sky and have been looking for a while to try something different after talking to someone in work. Looking to buy a new reciever and possibly a cline after the discussion but dont even know what it is or if its legal or allowed. Can someone give me a dummy's explanation on if its worth looking at and if so best model, etc. Sorry for the post but am a complete novice at this.

Our forum advice is always stay well clear of paid for clines - they are illegal as they defraud the pay tv companies of their legitimate revenue.
There is also a very real risk of
1) the operator running off with your money
2) the operator getting busted, in which case your ip address is on the operator's server sitting there for the police to find & come knocking.
We will not help with any requests for help with this particular topic.
However the receiver question is fine. Any number of receivers available to suit all pockets & areas of experience / interest. The TM5402 series are well regarded and reasonably priced. However remember that unlike Sky & Freesat receivers generic boxes wont pick up frequency changes as channels move around the satellites
