Help: Eutelsat w2 and Astra 19 monoblock lnb

I'm having problems setting up to receive both eutelsat w2 (16) and astra (19). Basically before, I was able to receive hotbird and eutelsat with no problems. I have a monoblock lnb 3 degree apart, see below:


Before, to receive hot bird and eutelsat i placed the left hand side on the dish, always when looking at the dish from the lnb, and set the DiSEqC (AA)1 to Hotbird and DiSEqC (AB)2 to eutelsat. Also, the dish was always aigned at eutelsat w2.

However, now I need help getting astra and eutelsat. I have placed now the right hand side of the lnb and set DiSEqC (AA)1 to eutelsat and DiSEqC (AB)2 to astra, but it doest work. Please HELP.

satelliteman, thank you for the reply. I already had a look at that, but unfortunately id doesn't help. Yes there have been problem with W2, however I'm able to recieve a strong signal with a single lb and when I had it on the monoblock lnb for w2 and hotbird. I have no idea what im doing wrong now, hopefully some will help me.
 
You'd need to reverse the relative Skew from what is was before ............

When you had Eutelsat W2 and Hotbird, the Monoblock would have been turned a few degrees one way to ensure the correct effective "Elevation" for the offset head.

Now you've mounted it the other possible way, that Monoblock will need to be turned the opposite way, a little bit, from the horizontal.

Forgive the lack of specifics, but I'm on the vino.

But I'm sure a light has come on and you know what I'm on about ................... :D


Edit: Ok, I'm on the ball again (?): The left hand head should be rotated clockwise a few degrees (looking from LNB towards dish), for the arrangement you now have, so that the left hand head (for Astra 1) is raised just above the horizontal.

Tivù. Thank you. I have followed a bunch of instructions that I have found on-line before to set-up the eutelsat and hotbird, and I think I found a post of yours that gave specific details. I have been looking for this post, for some time now, but I just cant find it. I might be wrong, maybe it wasn't you, but it was really helpful as it had specific details about dish alignment, the rotation of the lnb and disq. settup on the receiver. Ok, what you have just said above might be helpful and I will deff. try it. But should I keep my dish alignment on Eutelsat W2?
 
Yes, 16E is the weaker of the two by a good margin, so you should use it as your focus, for maximum efficiency.

Many 16E channels are also weaker than they were last week because of W2 expiring unexpectidely and having to be replaced by a rag tag assortment of elderly and faulty satellites!
 
Thanks for the help guys. I got it and it works perfect. Yea W2 is still not working as good on some frequencies, but some have a signal higher than before the problems.
 
Very good - It's all quite logical in retrospect!

eW2 is not there now it is moving away. Old Sesat from 36 degE and failed W2M came to it's rescue. They operate along with eurobird 16.
 
Guys, hopefully you can help with something, well basically it's a simple answer that I want. I just bough a dish today, which is around 90 to 100cm(sorry not really sure on this), however the metal bit, the one that holds the lnb has been designed for an 80 cm dish(that is what it says on the paper/on the box). Nevertheless, it is mountable on the dish, but it definitely looks short. All I want to know is, would this cause a problem or would this be the cause that I would get not signal at all?
 
If the dish arm was the wrong length it would put the LNB out of focus, and depending how far out it was could prevent you picking anything up at all.

Best to check with your dealer that he has given you the correct arm for your dish.

Thanks Robbo, I will be checking again with the dealer and I'm having a guy come tomorrow and try and install the dish.
