My Satellite Setup
Just setting up.
Max dish size is 1.8, but better if smaller due to roof terrace location
My Location
Palma Mallorca
I am just setting up house in Palma. I want to receive Sky HD for sport, plus the usual UK channels.
I have limited roof terrace space,1.8 metres may just work but it would be ugly.
What advice please for dish. lnb and set top box?

many thanks:)

You are going to need at least a 2.4 dish, possibly larger. Look at _http://www.astra2d.com/footprint.htm at the footprint at the bottom of the page.

A good source of local info is your local bars that have Sky. You better have a pint or two when your there. They should also be able to recommend a local installer etc.

Good luck

You will not need a dish that big for most HD channels. With a 90 cm dish you can receive:

Sky Sports HD 1
Sky Sports HD 2
Sky Sports HD 3
Sky Movies Premiere HD
Sky Screen 1 HD
Sky Screen 2 HD
Sky Anytime HD 1
Sky Box Office HD 2
Sky Retail HD Info
Sky Arts
Sky One HD
Channel 4 HD
Prem Plus
FX HD UK
Discovery HD Europe
The History Channel UK HD
National Geographic Channel HD UK
Rush HD
Luxe TV HD

You will not get BBC HD, however reports on the forums say it is rubbish anyway.

What do you mean by "the usual" UK channels. You will get everything shown here except the channels shown with footprint "2D"

What moron wrote posts saying that? BBC HD shows the finest programmes the BBC produces such as Planet Earth, and has the best picture quality currently available on Astra.

Re The usual UK channels, I mean BBC1,2 ITV 1, Channel4.

Thanks

I thought that was what you meant when I suggested a 2.4 metre dish in an earlier post. The channels that Blueplatinum mentions are on either Eurobird 1 or Astra 2 south beam which you can receive with a smaller dish.

That is interesting. Maybe I have misinterpretted some of the comments I have read. We can't get BBC HD here so I can't comment personally.

He is actually within all the footprints from that orbital position except ASTRA 2D.

The big dishes will cost at least €3.000 so it may be worth looking into an internet solution. There is a service a lot of people have here that offers nine channels including the five main UK ones. I am afraid I do not know what it is called or the web URL though ... sorry. Obviously it is NOT HD though.

Can you give me a bit more info please.

Does your suggestion include HD?
What other key eqiupment points are important?
Have you got this experience from Palma centre?:confused:

Many Thanks
