You need to be very accurate setting up the mount for the motor m8. make sure the mount is 100% plumb and a 88cm is the lower end of the scale using a motor.you will get using the dish statically.

Hi, I dont have a good line of sight to 39E, but I set a 68cm penta digit dish up temporarily on a bicycle workstand and found it easy enough, 90s/80Q. It is lower in the sky than other satellite mind. A strong transponder to search for is 10956V 4123sr 7/8 (thanks to sonnetpete).
You could try to set your box to a strong freq and inch your dish eastwards to see if you get a signal.
If your pole is not at 90 degrees it could be missing satellites towards the end of your arc.

It sounds to me like one of three things.

Mount not plumb (check east west axis at first); motor not seated on pole correctly; dish mount twisted on motor stub (must be centered on line on stub)

A couple of pictures of your set up would help with diagnosis.

Agree, pictures would be good. In addition to the above, might also be worth checking the motor inclination. 30W is a strong bird and could be received with a slight inclination error where it's just possible 39e may not.

SEnd the dish to 39E, then gently flex the dish up or down, if you are able to get a signal then, your arc is out.

Hi ,
Thanks for all your replies.Ok ive taken it all down and started again.I checked the level on my pole.Is ok.ive lined up on thor 0.8 west to max signal.i get everything east no problem from 28.2 east to 30 w.
when i get to 39 east it registers signal on 10970 v 30000. and this is a transponder on 42 east. However when i check that frequency on 42 E it doesnt register the signal and tunes nothing in.
The dish looks dead centre on the mount. i will take some photos tommorow .cos i wont get to play again till saturday. what pix would be helpful?? front of dish ?side? rear? motor?
thanks for your help guys

Youve set the motor latitude wrong. You have it set to 40 degrees. That is not right. Check dishpointer. Presumably it should be about 50.

A spirit level is not accurate enough to get a pole vertical. They are often a few degrees out. The one in your photo shows the pole is not vertical.

A plumb line or digital inclinometer is accurate. If you are not used to estimating plumb lines, one can be made.

Get a piece of cardboard with a straight edge (eg back of an A4 pad). Put a ruler parallel and draw a line parallel to the edge. Make a pin hole an inch from the top of the line. Put some string through, nice and tight, knot it at the back, and let it extend a few inches below the board then tie on a nut.

That will get you accurate to 0.1 degrees at almost no cost.

(You can prove it by drawing a 1 degree line from the origin using a protractor.)

Measure at three points around the pole to ensure it is vertical.

This lets me accurately set up my motor in very quick time.

Have you buried those cables? Damp can penetrate in a few months unless you use a conduit. You need a special cable if you want to bury it.

Don't know what it says in the motor handbook but 40° Lat would be on a line just North of Valencia, Spain.

Dorset would be between 50.5°N and 51°N. You can easily check this online.

That is an excellent solution, well hidden in the grass.

In the handbook it gives a conversion table which says my site lat which is 50 = elevation angle of 40.
