Good morning.I recently had an iss 80 motorised dish installed, and would like some advice. When i moved round to 16e, i receive the strongest transponder, bn music with 67% snr. When i try tring sports 1, it drops to about 36% and is pixelated and unwatchable.Question is, should i be able to pick this up better? If i got someone out to realign the dish perfect, would i get tring so it's at least watchable?I live near farnborough, dish has a clear line of sight and receives from 53e to 30w. No lamps, etc nearby, just stuck up on a wall. What do you reckon? Thanks all

Some questions :

What receiver are you using?

Are you using a proper subscribers card to receive Tring?

Do you know what LNB is fitted to your dish?

It may be alignment problems. I receive BN Music at 67% SNR as well but that's on a 60cm multi sat dish with the 16°E LNB off centre. I can't find Sports 1 listed, only Sports 2, 3 & 4. Can you confirm the transponder it's on?

I'm using a vu+ duo. No to the 2nd question. Think we can't say anymore about that. It's an inverto black lnb.i'm still new to this game and can't recall which transponder it's on. But i couldn't get tring sports 2,3 or 4 eitherThx for reply

Are you using Usals or Diseqc to move your dish?
First try using the receiver options, to nudge your dish, to see what signal quality you can get. Also check you have your correct latitude, and longitude, entered, if using Usals.
You should be able to get Tring Sports with an 80cm dish so something needs adjusting.

Yes, an 80cm should give good results for those channels, 11283 V 27500. As Mickha suggests, try going into motor settings and nudge the dish East and west a bit to see if signal improves.

I'm using usals.I tried moving the dish east and west but no improvent. The snr wasn't stable, was jumping around between mid 20s and mid 30s when i moved it. The channel was one above sports 2, just called sports with the game showing in brackets.Think it's catseyes bouquet.

And long and lat is correct. Installer entered it incorrectly, i corrected it.

Sounds like your dish might need re-aligning. Can you try manually scanning in the channels on 11283 V 27500,DVB-S?

Was that before or after he aligned the dish?

BTW, I recently followed a thread on another forum where a person was receiving $ky via a similar method you've hinted that you're using. He had no problems with reception on FTA channels but signal drop on scrambled ones. After a lengthy and often heated discussion the conclusion was that the problem wasn't anything to do with his dish setup. It might be an line of enquiry you want pursue yourself. I really don't think I can discuss this aspect further.

That was after he installed the dish. It's On usals.I tried nudging left and right but signal just got unsteady, up and down between 20s and 30s.isn't there a fta on the same transponder as the sports channels i can check? It was the channel on tring just called sport, with the game showing in brackets.

I've just had a look on my own system and contradicting my previous post which i have deleted, it does appear that Sports 1 is broadcast and that it appears that Lyngsat is wrong again for a change.

Anyway i've checked and it does appear that the transponder that sports 1 is on is about a third weaker than the transponder BN music is on.

The transponder for Tring Sports 1 is on 11283 Vertical, where as BN music is on 12733 Horizontal.

On my setup the vertical transponders do appear to be weaker than the horizontal ones, that is probably why you aren't getting the sports cahnnels but are getting the BN music channels.

Bearing this in mind I would say that your dish is slightly out or your USALS co-ordinates are wrong.

Did you write down the co-ordinates that the installer put into your receiver before you changed them?

My original setup was put up for use with a DISEqC 1.2 so the start point wasn't that critical with the dish being about a three quarters of a degree out. This was easy to remove when setting up the DISEqC positions on the receiver.

When i started using USALS i had to mess with the co-ordinates before it would work correctly as the original install hadn't taken USALS being used into account. This may be the case of what happened here.

I've now set it to what it should be when i fitted the Gibby up last month.

Vizion Plus, Folk + & Kanali 7 are free to air channels you can try that are on the same transponder as Tring Sports.

Didn't write down coordinates, but remember ot being 0.8 west, about half. degree outI'll try the other channels later, but don't have much confidence.

I tried the fta channels on the same transponder last night, still only got 37%. Also tried nudging east and west but only managed an extra 1%Also swapped tuners which didn't help either. Only get 15% in 26e and 7w as well. Do you think there is an issue with the install or my dish simply isn't big enough?

The dish size should be OK, although quality of dish may make a difference, my 80cm transparent dish brings them in fine.

Can you pull in 1W and 42 East with reasonable figures?

Here are my results going through the arc. See what you make.
30w al jazeera english:74%
15w bbc persian :61%
5w 11.961v2000 :21% (no picture)
7w. Mbc : 15%
0.8w bbc world :95%
4.8e krt :84%
7e bbc persia :61%
9e cctv4 :83%
13e rit tv :86%
16e bn music. :67% ( sport 37% )
19.2e arte :89%
23.5e ocko :86%
26e. Saudi sport. :15%
39e skat tv :67%
42e cnn turk :91%
Does it look good?I seem to get signal on other sats, just not tring sport, 26e and 7w.

At this point it would help if you could post photos of the install. Is the wall mount single arm right angled or T&K brackets supporting a pole?

Sorry, i can't even see the dish. It's installed in a valley in the roof, so cannot be seen from ground level. Also don't have a ladder long enough.Apolpogies if my previous post looks a bit of a mess. I had it all nicely spaced but all got squashed together when posted.

I would say your dish needs some slight adjustment, to improve the tracking of the arc, you should be getting better signal quality readings on 16E, and 26E, unless there is something blocking the signal, like trees.

Well it's very up and down. I get 83% SNR on Al Jazeera from 30°W, on the VU+ Solo using a small oval dish and 43% SNR on MBC using a 1M dish and Black Ultra.

Why did you quote that TP from 5°W? I can't find it listed. Have you any results (France 2, Arte) from 5°W as it's one of the strongest sats up there. Probably your best course of action given that you can't get to the dish yourself would be to get the installer back. One thought, when you altered the coordinates on the VU+ are you sure you entered your longitude as West and not East?
