My daughters just moved in to a flat that has multiple satellite points through the lounge and Bedroom. I couldn't figure why it wasn't working until I found a box with 10 cables. Four called Source 1, 2, 3 & 4. Another four cables called Dish 1, 2, 3 & 4. Then two names Lounge and Bed so assume they are the outputs. Also currently source 3 and Dish 3 are connected coaxially. So, how on earth do I get this configured.

I don't understand what you mean by that; is there an extra connection between those cables, outside of the box/multiswitch?

It's all very odd. I have 8 loose satellite cables not attached to anything just sitting there with sat connections unconnected. Three marked Source 1, 2 & 4 and three marked 1.2 & 4 dish. Source 3 and Dish 3 have a coaxial connection and are connected to a TV box with Source 3 on TV out. I also have two satellite cables marked Lounge and Bedroom where there are a number of satellite connections. Taking a photo will only show the spaghetti mess. I hope that helps.
Also source 3 links to no 3 of 4 satellite connections and does work off an aerial.

Sounds like four direct cable feeds from dish and four from terrestrial aerial feeding into the flat. Best way to test is to connect up to the relevant input of the receiver and see what you get.
Sorry, perhaps I should have said help on a multi switch for the satellite as there's nothing there at the moment. I suspect there was something. It packed in and not replaced.
That's what I though until I noted that Source 3 Cable is connected to Dish 3 as a coaxial connection and works on no 3 satellite on a block of four on the wall as a coaxial on the tv. I hope that makes sense.
Do you have access to the dish?
So that you can see if there is an quad LNB, or quattro LNB attached (or even 2 twin or wideband LNBs)?
(Typ number of the LNB?
When no type number visible: 4 Ports with a color indication, or indication of VL, VH, HL, HH? Or no indications?)
With the source3 -- dish3 connection, do you in fact have reception (picture on the telly) somewhere?
If yes, we can sort out more.
And another question, as to future wishes: Do you (they) want 4 or less TV connection points, and 4 or less TV- and recorder tuners?
In that case a multiswitch would probably not be the best/cheapest solution, and certainly not when there is already a quad LNB (as opposed to quattro LNB ).

Assuming there are other flats in the block, why not knock on the door of a neighbour and see what they might have installed ?
