Help to connect

My Satellite Setup

Hello, I am a 73 year old pensioner I have just joined the group and I need some help please.

My Panasonic tv has 2 HDMI outlets and 2 SCART outlets.
My Panasonic DVD has 1HDMI and 2 SCART outlets.
My Humax FREESAT has 1 HDMI and 2 SCART outlets.

I want to connect and record from the FreeSat so how do I connect them up and do I have to find a spare channel on the TV?
Any help will be most welcome.

Well the Foxsat must be connected to the Telly via HDMI1 (or 2) for best results.

As for the DVD Recorder, you should be able to connect it either to the Humax by SCART or to the Telly by SCART.

I'm not too clued up on the ins and outs of SCART functions, but I do know there are the odd "funnies", so I suggest you lean towards connecting the DVD to the Humax for now.

The TV should recognise the Humax when you boot up, but if it doesn't auto-detect, all you do is select the source HDMI1 (or 2, depending upon which socket you plugged the HDMI cable into!) on the Telly: That is your "Channel", so to speak.

Odd.

Does the TV see the Humax?

If not, there should be a button on the TV Remote labelled "Video" ............ keep pressing that until HDMI1 (or 2, as appropriate) comes up on the screen.
 
Yes it sees the humax and I think I have solved it, I am recording now so we will see and I will let you know. Ken
 
Aall OK BUT the picture on Freeview while it is recording from Freesat breaks up badly.

Can't give a definitive answer to that, I'm afraid.

Simple suggestions:

Remove and reconnect SCART cables (they don't like being skewed or not fully inserted)

Try a couple of different SCART leads (People can get quite snobby about these, but cheap Poundland or Tesco ones can be just as effective as the allegedly high-quality ones misinformed Curry's salespersons will try to get you to buy!)

I'm suspect this is one of those occasions where five minutes in front of the equipment would probably resolve it, but which is mighty hard to diagnose and advise on through the Forum.

Very glad - often the Instruction Manuals contain specimen diagrams showing typical interconnection methods, but I'm not at all sure they do much other than cloud the issue!

Let's face it, these Products are for universal domestic use and should be relatively instinctive to install to perform their primary functions.

All the bells and whistles can safely be left to those with the time and inclination!
