:-rofl2:-rofl2:-rofl2Am totallynew & totally frustrated!!
Have spent 3 days following all the goodadvice here, but although we are getting a loud high pitched noise when we have aligned our satelite correctly, the signal quality NEVER goes over 14...!!!Am trying to get Astra 28, but no matter what sat i input or what way we turn the dish, the signal quality goes to 14 maximum!!!! Can anyone help ....Please???!!!

Welcome to satellites forum,

How are you aligning your dish, alignment meter or signal test screen on receiver ?
Explain in more detail what you have done so far.

Ok. I think we have done everything we should. Started by getting correct elevation, then listened to signal meter , fixing elevation at loudest sound. Then went app. 28 degrees east of south ( sun at 1 o clock ) and fixed sat. at loudest soundagain after moving gradually a degree left n right and finding loudestsignal. TV screen still shows between 11 &14 no matter what. Even whenwe disconnected all leads to double check our connectors the quality bar stays at 14!!! the other bar showing intensity goes up to 80 or 85 : weonce got some radio channels coming in ( on some foreign sat.9 but lost them since.
Is there a problem with the box. WE have checked all connections. We havent received even one picture no matter what sat we have tried to tune in. Help !!!:-rofl2

OOPs. Should have said that we r using the signal finder meter that came with the set we got at Lidl. The tone on the tvscree seems to stay the same all the time.

your proberbly not on the right satellite as astra 2 is 28 degrees is from true south not magnetic south for example im near liverpool so astra2 is actually 31 degrees east. you can use dishpointer.com to find your true reading. if you can get someone to keep an eye on the screen you need to get network id 0002 and transponder stream 07d4 signal strenght and quality needs to be both at atleast 50%

Id say you had the dish aligned onto 13E or 19E. Nudge it round the the east a bit and down a fraction.

The tp stream is irrelevant as hes not using a sky digibox.

i was originally writing post before we new that as i got distracted by phone call

See if you can get a lock on any of the high powered East sats again, then do a transponder scan on the receiver to see where you are.

Once you know this go from there slowly till you get to 28e. Make note of post #6

@ jonwisbey, O/P shows what receiver he has got in his 'my system' profile :D

Ah, some of the kits from the supermarkets use an LNB that requires twisting on the dish feed, so the cable connector is out by 45 degrees. If the LNB is positioned 'straight', you will not get any reception, but the tone meter will still give you a signal.

There are gradients on the top of the feedhorn to show roughly where it goes, but no instructions in the box.

The cable run does look odd as a result, but that's the way its supposed to be

Specifically the Fortec Star FSKUVN LNB.

Are there any others?

O.K. We did a tp scan.... no progs found. No matter what sat. i input on the screen ,the signal quality stays at 14%!!!How can this be.? Still the sat finder is screaming in my ear!! The highest signal intensity i get is 82 on Hellasat,Eutel & Hotbird...but still 14 for quality !! Am i doin somethin stpid ???

Have you used the attenuation button on the sat finder? You need to turn it down so that the meter is only just buzzing, then align further until the tone rises. To get your rough direction go to dishpointer.com, no point and then armed with a line of sight, try again.

WWAHOOO!!! A picture!!only prob is that we have found sirius 2 .... 5 degrees east !!! Obvously been way ofbeam. I assume we go more east & slightly down.... but how much??? Any easy way tomeasure it please!!!

23° more in an easterly direction and a lower elevation setting.

Get the rough direction from dishpointer.com and use a good compass.

...or go find a dish on 28e, stand under it, set up the compass and go back to your dish. This will give you a good starting point :D
