Help with freesat in Cyprus

Hi,

I'm new so apologies if this has already been covered somewhere, i have looked but couldn't find anything.

Right what my problem is and i hope that someone can help/advise me is i brought a sky freesat card for a relative in Cyprus. They put that in there Pace box and i then phoned from here(UK) to activate it. That was 4 days ago and my aunt still cant get freesat. The last thing i want to do is phone sky so i was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem.

If any info about the box or the dish etc is needed let me know and i'll get the info.

Assuming dish/reception is ok, what messages are being displayed (sky3 for example)?

Had a new white card the other day that wasn't pairing up with a replacement receiver. The card had gone to sleep before activation. If this is the case Sky can send a wake up signal prior to activation/pairing.

It's a possibility.
 
The reception and dish are ok. they BBC1, 2 etc. when they try sky 3 it says insert viewing card even though its already in.

Should i give them a ring and ask to wake it up?
 
Ok, services menu, system set up option 4 then option 5 should indicate the card details on the screen. Can you confirm it's inserted the correct way round.
 
just been told that it says no card in that screen. The card is in correctly.
 
Several possibilities I think.

1) The card is inserted upside down or in the wrong slot. Note that that it's not the top slot (if they are one above another) that is the correct slot - that one is marked for interactive services.

2) The box is faulty. Has it worked with a card in the recent past?

3) The card is faulty. Possible but not likely until you check the above. Is there anyone nearby that you could either borrow a known working card or try your card in?

1) the card has been checked and is in the correct slot the correct way up.

2)it had a card in previously. the only reason for getting the freesat one is because they were being charged well over a 100 euros for the new skycard when the old one became obslete.

3) i'll see if she they can get someones card to try. might be a bit difficult to lend them mine due to the distance :)

i've asked sky freesat to resend the signal this morning so hopefully that should do the trick

Card still not working after second activation by Sky. Could it be that the frequencies are somewhat different.
 
Is the satellite dish big enough? Are there any channels or, more specifically, groups of channels that are too weak?
