Help with motorised dish

My Satellite Setup
80cm Motorised, VU+ Solo 2
My Location
S.Wales
Hi all, Got a huge problem if anyone can throw some light onto this please.

My motorised dish has gone to its end, stops and will not come back regardless of what I do (go to home position, move motor, ...). It is now pointing well East at a strange angle (like downwards) and I can receive nothing.

Has anybody had a similar problem or know what I can do to fix it (short of a big hammer).

The first thing to check that having hit the east limits it hasnt pulled a cable loose where its got too tight.
 
Indeed. Any piece of electrical string cut to length will be 6 inches too short.

Thanks, the cable seem ok, I can use the east / west buttons on the motor and the dish moves about an inch or two then stops and will not go any further.

Which make of motor and age ?

Have you tried the 'go to reference' setting in the menu?

Hi, its a new horizons diseqc nh-210 its a week old. Go to reference setting ? Haven't seen that one.

Can you upload any photos?
You might need to remove the dish, move the motor back to due south, and set it up again.

If access is reasonably easy I'd remove the dish, move the motor, and set it all up again.
Can you remember which satellite you were moving to?
Once you have it set up again ensure you set the East/West limits, either on the motor, or in your receiver.
Usually all you want is from 42E to 30W, providing youi have a clear line of sight, and no obstacles the dish might hit.

Looks like a job for the weekend then, its not something im confident doing myself so will get somone in, thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
 
If 'go to home' is the same as 'go to reference' in the Vu menu then you may have tried it.

You might be looking at 68.5 East from the photos, on an offset dish it does look strange.
 
looks like its hit the wall and pulled round to me the dish bracket should be central with the two holes on the motor, who fitted the dish in the first place i would get them back to do the job.

What a strange looking install. I've never seen a DiSEqC motor driven round so far. Looks like it is about 90º round from central which is well below the horizon. Also tube looks very thin and has deformed. Any western satellites are going to be impossible as the wall is in the way. And the K bracket looks like it is sloping downhill.

No sign of that dish being driven into a wall. My guess is a limits issue. Don't understand why the motor is parallel to the wall, and it can't have been pushed round like that accidentally because the dish is already as far east as it can go, and miles from the wall.

the middle of the dish bracket should be central to the two holes on the motor looking from behind/front the dish is around about 45 degrees out of line off the motor, so the obvious thing to me thats its been locked out on the wall.

and yes limits issue has caused this :-)
 
Dish is still lined up correctly on the motor stub. The allen bolt on the motor stub goes east/west when the motor is sent to zero, and there is no damage on the dish that indicates it has been driven into a wall. Dishes that have hit a wall are normally wrecked before the motor swivels around the pole. Even then there is more chance of wrecking the motor internally than it swiveling around the pole. But in this case that pole looks pretty flimsy.

:-downt the dish is about 45 degrees out, thats all i have to say.
 
I don't see it. The motor stub is 90º to the motor and the dish is also. The allen bolt on the motor stub is never at the front. It's always at the side when the motor is zeroed. In this case the motor stub is round 90º or more to the east.
