Help with sky hd

I brought my box over from the uk, Had 1.8 dish installed sorry in cyprus ( installers could not speak english) great start . They say the dish is pionting to astra and upstair is a good signal.
They had not set up sky before and didnot know what to do next. i'm getting no signal being recieved. also when i go to add a channel it will not allow as it says con not do to 2 recordings or something. held the backup button on reboot for 3 sec to go to factory setting as discribrd by someone else but same old problem. PLEASE help
 
There are plenty of Cyprus Residents more familiar with setting up for BSkyB ............ a few are Members here.

But which Astra have they set the dish up for, I wonder ................. their lack of familiarity might mean it could be on 19.2E, 28,2/28.5E or, at a stretch, 23.5E.

Not sure how to reconcile your comment that "upstair is a good signal" with your "no signal being received".

Also, 1.8m is not big enough for Astra 2D, which carries most of the BBC and other PSB stuff.

Have to agree with you Tivù as it souds like they've aligned it wrongly - probably Astra 1.

Muzer you will HAVE to get another local opinion on this if the installer didn't speak English. As a alternative, do you have another receiver that ISN'T a Sky receiver? You could then do a scan and see what channels show up.

It would have been moved with an expiring redirect so not to be missed.

G, If the thread is clicked on in the old location, it'll redirect to the moved location until the redirection has expired where it'll no longer be seen. Depends how long the redirection was :)


muzer, as suggested in post #4, if you have or can borrow a non sky receiver, try performing a service scan to see where you are.
