Help!

Hi all

I hope somebody can help me with a problem that has just occurred.

My digibox is constantly showing a No Satellite Signal Received message on every channel.

This suddenly happened Last night when I took out the scart lead from the back of the television. I had just tried to access a channel on which I have never been able to receive a signal but now this is happening for all channels.

Its not a wind or rain issue as the weather has been fine and I was watching ESPN Classic last night until the aforementioned change of channel and scart lead change.

I`ve done all the usual unplug and leave for a minute, wipe the card down etc, but when I plug the digibox back in it doesnt even ask for a card, I just get the 'searching for listings' text and then a 'no satellite signal...'

Noticed in my system setup it just says 'none' where my viewing card number should be.

I`ve still got my old box so I will try that to make sure its not a cabling issue but just wondered if anyone can shed any light on this?

Hi Phil, try the old box as you intend to, if it works, then it is obviously a problem with your newer digibox. Could be tuner, the no signal message is typical of that, but could also be the power supply, as I can't see that a faulty tuner would affect the ability to read the card.

What make and model of digibox is it?

Its a Panasonic TU-DSB31.

Ive just taken out the co-axial cable and it turns out the pin has snapped off in the connector so I`m assuming this is what caused the problem and it was previously hanging on by a thread.

Goodness knows how that happened as I didnt even move the box!

So I am now in the process of taking apart my new box in order to get the pin out as there is nothing showing to grab hold of to pull it out of externally. Then I`ll have to sort my cable out and create a new pin. Hooray, cant wait, just what I wanted to do tonight!

I`ll post the results and let you know if this was the cause.

Not sure that there is any way of getting the copper core out, other than from the outside. Still seems strange that the card reader wouldn't work.

PS a pin will sometimes get you enough leverage.

Ive got my old box set up now and created a new copper core. All working again so that was the problem. Just have to wait for Sky to update my card details for this box now.

Ive taken the lid off my new box and the connector component seems to be in a nuclear bomb proof casing.

Any idea of an easy way to get into this without having to take out the mother board and bend various metal pins all over the place, basically destroying the internal workings of the box!

Maybe this is a sign to update my equipment!

Used the pin but as I am clumsy I just managed to push the thread further in. I pushed it so far in I couldnt see it anymore so tried my new box again and it is now working.

Typically Sky cannot cancel my card detail change request as they are in the middle of a system upgrade so I have to ring back in the morning, unbelievabe.

Oh, and the Sky call centre doesnt appear to be in Lothian anymore but in New Delhi or suchlike. Another cost saver for the Sky empire!
