i live in egypt and we can put uptill 5 dushes or more and we can install ANY size

so i am asking are satellite dishes illigal in UK

and can i recieve nillesat series there in london

thank you in advance

No satellite dishes are not illegal in England but any over 1M require planning permission. Generally we are allowed 2 satellite dishes, before requiring planning permission, but the largest can only be a maximum of 1 Metre.

Well no it is not illegal to put up up to two satellite dishes, one 60 cm and one 1.0mtr. More than that you need planning permission from the local authority. Another complication however could be that if you are living in rented accommodation there may be restrictions imposed by the landlord concerning the installation of even one dish. It is not easy to catch the transmissions meant for the Middle East in the UK if the footprints are tightly focussed on the Middle East, some however are receivable in the UK especially in the South of England.

Slightly O/T, but I was under the impression that the apparent freedom illustrated at Post #1 was tempered by a max. allowable size of 2.4M.

I'm sure this has come up before, in relation to queries over getting some European Satellites over there.

If you are moving to the UK go as far south as possible, further south = smaller dish for nilesat ;)

Although if you want the sports channels on the horizontal beams you will need a minimum dish size of 1.2m. (HOWEVER with the launch of Nilesat 201 last night all bets are off as to what the required dish sizes required will be for N201 - I predict the signals will be much weaker over the uk but until 201 goes into service we just dont know.....)

I believe what people have been saying, things have come so far since nile 101/102, i think 201 will be very hard to pull in the UK... but we could be wrong
