high freqencies wont clear

My system seems to have deteriorated and I can longer clear high frequency stations eg Sky Sports News without the use of an inline amp. The inline amp seems to effect my dish control so i seek an alternative cure.

What sort of things would effect HF signals more than normal ?
Will an inline amps pass through Diseq commands ?

I get the same results from either output from my smart priority switch so presumably the wires and connections below the switch are OK

I have had dish alignment checked and its OK

12207 V, I would suspect oscillator drift on the lnb. No point in using an in-line amp unless your cable run is 80mtrs or above. For the small cost of a replacement lnb < £10.00 I would opt for that being the problem componant in view of the other checks already made

If you are having problems in Yorkshire on a 1m dish theres something seriously awry with your system - you would just about get away with a tiddly 43cm zone 1 dish there!!

As Topper says start by changing your lnb

Come to think of it, I did not spot that AS, a 1mtr dish and the picture improved with an in-line amp ...yes it would as you are probably swamping the stb with signal and introducing an in-line amp would introduce losses which must take it below the threshold, too much signal is just as bad as too little. Try fitting an attenuator

thanks for info, LNB less than 1 year old and is a twin, same result on both . I would not need the amp if HF stations would clear, what could cause that ?

If we are right your massive dish is actually putting far too too much signal into the tuner, swamping it and making it "deaf"

The amp is actually filtering out a lot of the signal and dropping it down to below the swamping threshold.

Two extra (and possibly dodgy) connections in the cable ;)
Where is the amp fitted ?

hello to all, a 1 meter dish in your area should not be a problem.
thats why all thing have a agc (automatic gain control)
the tuners are rated to -35 to - 65.
the lnb has internal amplifier and if one stage shorts the output will be low.
change the lnb for 5 euro its a cheep fix.
also how long in the line run?
inspect the line for cracks for water ingress.
a little water will corode the brade as well

Yes I've had in excess of 90dBuV into my receiver without problems. Can you identify all transponders or frequencies you are unable to receive?

Your reception will improve - rain attenuation will not be so bad.

Its not the aerial, I plugged an old Inno into the aerial and pulled in Sky News 120207 no problem ,so it must be the box.

Tuner ? any ideas
