My Satellite Setup
receiver : silvercrest SL65 FTA astra 28.2 ,hispasat 30w .....4way diseqc switch
2meg broadband
My Location
tipperary ireland
hi guys i have jst tuned my receiver to hispasat. iam getting around 70% signal strength and quality on channels on 1c but am nt receiving any or are pixeled on 1d .i have an 80cm dish in the midlands of ireland. after doing some reading i believe the lnb skew is very important here. can someone please tell me from looking at the front of the dish what the skew should be or any other tips
cheers martin

Rotate the LNB anticlockwise to about 45 degrees from the normal position looking from the front of the dish, then do some fine adjustment for maximum SQ.

@mshaw, Im curious, although we are in completely different locations, have you noticed the change in signal just recently, was the signal better for example last week. I have noticed a weakness on some transponders also. Can you please also advise if after rotating your lnb, has your signal improved?

hi i have tried doing what you said but this made the problem worse ( stopped all channels from working) are the transponders on 1d weaker ? or do u think i need a bigger dish ? the transponder which appears to be extremely bad is the one with russia today on it

hi powel when i rotated the lnb it made the problem worse as explained in the above post. icant comment if this is a problem that has got worse as this is my 1st time on 30w

@mshaw, the transponder with russia today is 11483 H 4000 2/3, on my dream im getting 91% signal, but Im in jordan using a 2.40m paraclypse solid. I think a bigger dish at your location might be needed but im not sure, maybe someone with similar location can answer better.

thanks for the info powell i may upgrade one of my dishes to 100cm in the future then . what transponder (channells )are weak for you or are having problems with?

I noticed some signal fluctuation during the day and at night on some transponders on Hispasat. I am not sure if I need to slightly realign the dish. But the some transponders that fluctuate for me are 11890 V 5/6 30000, 12011 V 27500 3/4, 11770 H 27500 5/6, 11890 H 27500 3/4. I think its better to use a prime focus dish with hispasat, I am also using a santech lnb with my prime focus.

mshaw, at my location in jordan , the above transonders get stronger at night especially between 1:00a.m-8a.m gmt

ok thanks again ill check the signal strengh at different times off day and see if it varies ill let u know

I would have thought that satellite would be booming in on an 80cm dish there.

BTW, what do you want to watch on Hispasat? Everything of any value seems to require a subscription.
