Advice Needed Hole in the ceiling and cables.

What’s the safest way to enlarge a hole With cables all ready running through in to the loft from my lounge ceiling so I will be able to add some more cables.

Plaster ? Or something more awkward to cut/chisel ?

How thick is the ceiling?

Is it bog-standard plasterboard?

Is this yet more electric your going to be drawing from the Grid? FFS Chris! Get that meter rigged! lol
 
If there are electrical cables (or other things) in the hole then you should remove them to enlarge the hole.

If you can't remove them (or the other stuff) then the only choice is to drill a second hole.
 
No power cables, it’s cctv/network/coax etc

I need to add at least 2 more runs of coax and 4 core motor cable.

Take a pic of what you can see :) We might be able to come up with a suggestion.
 
Got the front off the conduit now. It’s plater board and some wood.

Can you just run the cables up in that gap as well?
Just be careful if there is any Asbestos present, you don't want to disturb it.
 
I can get maybe the motor cable, for me to add more coax it needs to be bigger.

I will try drilling a smaller hole next to the larger hole, then see if I can get the cable through.

It looks like you can poke a bigger hole with a screwdriver in that pic?

My thoughts as well (and/or maybe use a wood chisel?) , but do it gently as you might crack off more than you want .
PS: if there is wood there, then you might have a lathe-and-plaster ceiling - how old is that house?
