I understand now sky accepts payment with foreign credit cards, that is cards not issued by a british bank.So this makes things easier for those shops selling sky subscriptions abroad.
But how do they manage to use so many valid UK addresses?I mean,it can't be just a question of courtesy from some friends allowing the use of their address...
I'm trying to think about an explanation to this, but cant find one yet.
Does anybody have an idea?

I don't think that Sky have ever had a problem with payments payed from an overseas card. I pay mine from a UK account but it's addressed overseas. The thing that they have to be sure of is that they a resident in the UK and that is done by registering the Sky system in a 'valid' uk address. The reason they do this is to ensure that their commitment to the various copyright issues are adhered to.

I have an address that I can legitimately register the account to which in the eyes of BSkyB is enough to prove that they keep to the rules. How they do this with all the other accounts that are set up through 3rd party is slightly more vague. Someone told me that there is a bogus set of addresses, perhaps a HUGE skyscrapper that is used to register the subscriptions to, but I honestly don't know for certain.

Hope that goes someway to answer your question

Cheers

Because none of those websites give a logical explanation on how do they get the UK addresses, and I'd like to understand how they do it.

Thanks Nick for your answer.
Yes sky only look for the uk address, the credit card is irrelevant.
If the bogus "skyscraper" possibility is right,it would mean sky allow to send multiple cards to the same address.
Amazing.

I beleive there is no limitation on how many subs you are allowed to have.

In Sweden i could have 10 subs on Viasat or Canal Digital if i wanted to in the same name.

I stand to be corrected but i believe there is a limitation of one sub per household for SKY UK...

Not in the sky analogue days anyway, I knew of someone with 7+ subs, which all found their way to Europe. I don't see why Sky should limit it - it's not in their interest to prevent people from subscribing, I suppose it would say on their website. You can also be creative with '27A' and 'flat 2' etc.

That's the way it's done. I believe there are phantom blocks of flats all with Sky subs.
The current limit is one per household, this was changed a year or so ago.

I wanted to get some more Freesat from sky cards for myself and the in-laws and the bods at Sky told me that I was limited to four at one address, not sure if the same rules apply to payed subscription cards.
