This has been doing the rounds on Facebook, and throws up loads of different answers. Its a nice way to kill a few minutes.

24 seems to be a common answer but I can see at least 39.

You could probably keep the kids quiet for half an hour puzzling over this one ;) :D

Very quickly, without pencil and paper I can see 36.

Yes well I have 45 without spending too much time on it

All sides being of equal length ..I too can see 39 ..
Haven't seen 45 as yet Topper ..but will keep looking
rgds
VS

silly me forgot to add thvery small squares ..make that 47

I can see 40...

Closer with my first guesstimation at 39 ...forgot to add the outer square ..
My second guess I'd added some twice ..
Strs is correct ..the answer is 40
I multplied the image ..printed it and counted 'em ..as proof

Yep, can't make more than 40.

I must have counted some twice then

EDIT yes I have done it with pen and paper 40 it is

as my tutor used to say....always do a drawing

unless I had a few too many, then I see about 70

Ah yes seeing multiple images is a common trait in our family, especially after imbibing alcohol

Well, there are at least a myriad of squares.... if I take my astigmatism into the account :D:-wow

Can still only see 36, what the effinell have I missed? (Rhetorical question)

Have you got the 2x2's on the second and third squares on each side?

Can see 35 but must confess that was after a large gin. Shirley the answer is 42?....
